Seems about right based on what little I know about the Jets.

Maybe move Laine to overrated, but idk he had a nice year last year

Scheifele isn't playing worse lol, he's still an elite 1C lol

Also how is Pionk overrated?? he literally broke out this year... or as it's otherwise known, getting away from Ruff

Plus the only reason Morrissey was «bad» (he really wasn't) is that he wasn't fully ready to take on the role of number 1 D

I think Laine's underperforming so I'd lean more to the LW column for him

Morrissey lost his d partner in Trouba, Buff and Myers, thus had to play with Poolman a 3rd pairing for most of the season so expected

no clue why u have Conner overrated, over ppg and 6th in goals scored in the entire NHL if anything the dudes underrated

rest look good

Scheifele is still a really good player. However he was 5th in the NHL in WAR between 2015-2018, and then all of the sudden since the 2nd half of the 2018-19 season he just decided he doesn’t need to try defensively anymore, which has hurt his value a ton.

Pionk pleasantly surprised me, but the only reason I have him here is because some jets fans think he is an actual top paring guy and that just isn’t the case. He’s a powerplay quarterback who is ok at best 5V5

I completely agree with Morrissey though I think he will be better next year

Morrissey I have a feeling will get back to his old self. However Connor is most definitely overrated by jets fans. Some think he is a top 10 player or something lol. He was abysmal defensively, like really bad. He doesn’t have the offence to make up for it like McDavid or draisaitl does for their defensive woes. Offensively scheifele does a lot of the work for him to score tap ins, and when not playing with him looks invisible, as evident by the Calgary series

The injury is a a good point, but Lowry just wasn’t that shutdown guy that he has been before. Kyle Connor is super overrated. He is literally one of the worst forwards in the league defensively, and his offence doesn’t make up for it.

I think you should swap Pionk and DeMelo but that's it, could maybe move Copp to the overrated column.

As for your first column I think the answers are Scheifele checked out for some reason, Morrissey was tasked to play the same role but with a rookie partner and I think he was hurt as well and Lowry just sucks.

Just my $0.02.

That’s pretty fair. Scheifs play is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen. Just out of no where during the 2nd half of the 2018-19 season he just decided he’s to good to back check or do anything in the defensive zone. Kind of funny how that was when shi* hit the fan for this team. Of course Maurice rewards him by giving him a ridiculous like 21 mins a night or something. I do feel like JMO’s play was just out of coincidence and I’m pretty confident that he can get back to the level he was at before. Lowry was really solid for us in 2017-18, but since then you’re right l. He sucked. Like we’ve discussed many times before this could all be resolved by a simple coaching change, but we all know how unlikely that is at this point

Something went down in 18-19, idk wtf happened but there's been way too much stuff going on with this organization the last few years for it all just to be a coincidence that Buff quits, Scheifele checks out into a whiny pouty pants, Laine and others want out, ruffled feathers comment, etc.
I do think part of that turmoil does stem from Maurice's preferential treatment of Scheifele over others even when 55 is playing like garbage, that's really gotta piss some guys off.

I'm not too worried about Morrissey, I'm sure he'll be fine and rebound but I really would've liked to see some better dmen added to give him some support.
I do like the guys they added and as much as I think DeMelo has gotten pretty overrated he'll help over a full season but adding even just one of D.Toews or R.Murray would've made a pretty big difference.
I get there's some good D prospects in the system but when there's top 4 Dmen traded for a bag of pucks I don't understand how Chevy doesn't get in on those deals to bring in some help for Morrissey.

As for Lowry yeah if he was slotted at 4C where he should be he'd be fine but Maurice is gonna Maurice, they really do need a coaching change but that won't be coming anytime soon unfortunately... 👎

Scheifele definitely took a big step back. As @bunzy1034 mentioned above, he seemingly stopped trying in certain parts of the game and really is just a fringe elite 1C now. He needs to really try harder. Though that could also be the usage, schiefele might be taking advantage of the fact that he’s literally the only centre maurice can play with his skill guys and he’s also likely being overworked. Like I think we can all agree than beginning of last season scheifele was much better than the one we saw towards the end. That said, overall needs to try harder. I don’t blame him though. He should get better with more centre depth and an improved team.

As for morrissey, he didn’t take a step back imo. This was his learning year. Before this season, buff was the 1d with loads of talent behind him. Now it’s Morrissey leading a very bare d-corps. He was playing with poolman against the other team’s best for most of the season. No knock on poolman but sheesh, I’m surprised he managed to put up 30 points (btw he was on pace for nearly 40 this year). I expect him to take yet another step forward next season. He is a 1d in the nhl imo

Conner isnt a top 10 player, maybe in the future but not now, dont see how u can compare him to McDavid or Draisaitl... seriously high expectations there

ok finally took the time to check

Conner had 38 goals, Scheif had 13 primary assists and 5 secondary with them which makes sense cause they played together the whole season but half his goals Scheif didn't touch the puck
and Conner assisted on 35 goals, don't know a exact # but quite a few Scheif and Laine's

as for defensive issues... all our fowards #'s took a big hit with losing 4 (top 4) defensemen in the offseason, he'll have to adjust his game to strengthen it and hes smart enough to do it, not worried in the slightest

I agree I think JMO is the most likely to take the biggest step forward out of the guys we talked about. Overall he was better when Demelo was paired with him, and I think he will fix some of the things that looked a little off with him last year, especially in front of the net.

I'm holding out hope for Scheifs to check back in but we will see what happens there. Maybe not having Eakin as a 2C could help him find his game again.
