Pre-Season Seattle Kraken Forecast

Description
I was going to publish a list of each team's Significant Players Exposed, in part to explain why I chose the players I did, but the effort got much too lengthy. If you have any input or questions about a particular team or player, let me know.

The defense looks okay, not surprisingly since by definition most teams will have to expose their fourth-best blue-liner, and the centers and right wings aren't too bad, but I was surprised at how weak the left wings are. I'll have to go back over all of my choices to see where that can be improved.

With Andersen in Toronto and Rinne in Nashville and both guys in Carolina on contracts expiring at the end of this season, plus goaltending questions in Boston, Chicago, Colorado and San Jose, I think someone would give me a second for one of the three experienced netminders I have here. And Miller and Murphy are attractive rentals in training camp 2021.

Scratches are those players (two LWs, two Cs and three d-men) I'm not sure will make the NHL in 2021-2022.

Other than a half-hearted effort at the forwards, I haven't tried to order the lines or pairings.

Of course, Trade Deadline 2021 will render a lot of this moot.

Thanks. That's very generous and kind of you. Other than speculating about what Tampa is going to do about their cap problems, there's not much for us to realistically play around with until training camps start up.

I've seen people thinking Dumba or other decently big names being unprotected while with yours pretty much everyone will most likely be left being unprotected

They'll probably take one of Ottawa's goalies more than Chlapik.

The problem is that they can only take so many goalies (I’m pretty sure 6 maximum). So Seattle might have to make decisions like Vegas where they take a slightly worse player because they aren’t a goalie.

I can tell you that Kivlenieks won't be the player taken from Columbus. His potential is as am NHL backup at best. Look for seattle to take a player like Jenner or Savard. Someone who can play a significant role for them or someone they can trade for a good price. Other options would be Stenlund, Kukan, Nyquist, Grigorenko, or a guy like Robinson.

My protected list from CBJ right now is (8-1) PLD, Domi, Atkinson, Bjorkstrand, Jones, Werenski, Gavrikov, Kukan and Korpisalo. Notable exempt players are; Merzlinkins, Texier, Bremstrom, Peeke, and Vehvilainen.

Or they could take a goalie from Ottawa and not take Kivlenieks from Columbus.

The problem is that some teams have a dearth of legitimate proven-NHL-quality players to be exposed. (Here, I've taken 7 such players.) I've already got 4 goalies and selecting any more just means reducing the actual roster by one skater per. (As you can see, I only have 12 forwards as it is.) If I were to take another goalie, it would be Khudobin (whom I could easily flip) and then I wouldn't take Kivlenieks.

Thanks a ton for input from the #1Columbus authority. Columbus, like Dallas, presents a problem because under a 7-3-1 scheme, they don't currently have 2 forwards likely to be exposed who aren't under contract for 2021-2022. Going 8 and 1 would make it much easier for me, as I would select from among Jenner, Nyquist and Stenlund.

I would much prefer to choose from between Abramov, Balcers and Chlapik. I'd pick all of them before taking a goalie from Ottawa.

I protected Dermott on the theory that Mikheyev isn't eligible, Hyman doesn't have to be protected at all and I don't mind losing Kerfoot and his cap hit.
