Your gonna have to retain on hall because the avalanche still don’t have the space even with trading Toews. But other than that the only other issue is that Toews has a spot on our roster and trading for hall would push Burakovsky into a third line role

Thats fine its a one year deal, also the avs offered hall a deal in FA btw so that Burakovsky 3rd line makes me think they were okay if that was the outcome for a year

there is 0% chance that Hall as a rental for Toews deal even comes close to being a reality

A top 4 Dman signed long term for a rental that the avs dont have cap space for? And Avs dont have any potential to lose Toews in the expansion draft, they will protect him makar and girard, EJ is waiving his NMC or being bought out...Graves is the one that will be exposed.

Sakic doesnt trade for and extend Toews if they plan to how they protect him Is already in place

they offered him a deal before the trade or Saad, as soon as Hall wasn't willing to sign for the money they offered, they made the move for Saad....they weren't ok with that ok in that case, Bura is a top 6 winger no matter what on the Avs...Hall or Saad it was 1 not both

They could get more for Hall, I also dont think theyll be out of it at the deadline and I know they want to work something out to keep him

Yeah that's not really the sort of deal the Avs would make at the deadline, especially assuming they're still in contention themselves. Weaken the D with trading a guy they're obviously high on after trading for him and signing him for a rental? Sure Hall is good but just not the kind of move that gets made. Then, as others have pointed out there's the cap issues and who moves down the lineup. It's a no from me.

all comes down to your goaltending, if you can get at least league average out of Ullmark, team will be fine, the depth is good enough to be a playoff wildcard team.
the bottom 6 fwd depth is a bit spotty but the top 6 is solid same as the majority of the Top 4 D.

When they offerd hall a deal it was before trading for Saad, they traded for Saad because they missed out on Hall

not angry, stars need all the cap space they can get and dellandra is top 2 for stars prospects and might be nhl ready. Also there really isn't a spot for staal in the lineup imo.

If they trade for hall at the deadline there wont be a significant roster player headed back to buffalo, nor would I be willing to send back a byram, Timmons, barron or newhook... colorado is already a top offensive team, the only way I can see them going after hall at the deadline is if one of their big 3 are injured for significant amount of the playoffs

Depends, if Cozens and Ruotsalainen are on the 3rd line, the depth gets a lot better
