u might be right but on detroits side I think they might as well accept cuz it helps the future and doesn't rlly affect them rn much

Still don't think M NTC Fleury falls on the cap sword by being traded to a non playoff team in the last years of his NHL career, though I think the trade posted is fair Same with Pacioeritty, his NTC would be very selective

detroit's not trading Zetterberg, and Bernier played decent with a bad team in front of him, I'd assume that would get them more

true but maybe they would have an agreement to flip fleury elsewhere or a 3 way trade

I think you're close on value for Detroit. I think a better trade might be
to VGK - Z's contract and Bernier
to DET - MAF (no retention), VGK 2021 1st, one of VGK B prospects (Brisson, Korczak, Dugan, Elvenes)

I'd be good with this, but I doubt MAF waives his NTC to come here...

You guys are right Detroit does decline. From my point of view it isn't about the retention Fleury contract is only $4M over Bernier's contract but last season their GAA and SV% were very close. Then you have to consider how bad Detroit was last season they did give up 56 more goals than Vegas. Bernier is also 4 years younger than Fleury. Taking that in to account I'd keep Bernier over Fleury at this stage in their careers. If you look at it as just a cap dump there isn't a lot of incentive for Detroit to accept this. Eriksson has $6M cap hit for the next 2 seasons and a 1st and a good prospect is about what it would to take his contract and that would be for a 7th or future considerations. More than likely Vegas's 1st will be further back than Vancouver's so its less valuable. I seriously doubt Duke will ever play a single NHL game he's 24 entering his 4th season in the AHL. He's a bottom 6 in the AHL. So I don't see any reason for Detroit to accept this deal.

Out of curiosity why does Vegas want the final season of Zetterberg's contract?

Wrong on the zetterberg trade? And Why take only a late first and a third for 5.5 million in cap on an old (but reliable) goalie will send out our younger and still good goalie. I'd add an mid level prospect. And most trade rumors surrounding the wings are with the lightning, not Vegas.

i know they probably wouldn't accept but I say they should because y not. they arent trying to be a good team rn and that wont change much with the exchange of bernier and fleury. detroit even saves real money I think and get futures. yes its a later 1st round pick but it will still be a good prospect so y not. they can even flip fleury to a better team with retention as part of the deal.

I agree, just not enough coming our way. And why are people moving him when they aren't even trying to move him anymore?

Did you read my first post? This post you responded to was meant for buffbry who is a fellow Wing's because I was curious if there was something I missed. When I started to write the first post the only comments from were Pond_Duck and you. it's why I said you guys are right Detroit does decline.

Why help them when we don't have too? And if Detroit was to go after Johnson instead of Fleury, They could get much more because everyone knows how bad of a situation Tampa is in, they could get a first, a third or second, a decent prospect and good young goalie prospect in Hugo Alnefelt. So why would we help someone else and get less when we could help Tampa and get a lot from them?

Because we give up an ltir and a goalie whose gonna leave at the end of the year for a first and a 3rd and a goalie who we can get more back from when we trade him for a 2nd or something with retention. I'm all for it

Bernier did play decent last season... and behind one of the worst teams that I have ever seen take the ice.

Ok I wouldn't do it, Last season Fleury wasn't any better than Bernier. They had very similar stats and Vegas was a whole lot better than the Wings making what Bernier did last season a whole lot more impressive. Fleury is 4yrs older and $4M dollars more expensive and for what the one extra season he has on his contract? Detroit has 2 goalies right now that are currently better than Fleury. With out a doubt Fleury has had a much better career than Bernier and Greiss and its not close but he is 36 and has started to slow down a bit. Look at Howard the 2 season before last season you could say he was Detroit's most consistent player and you could also say he was one of Detroit's best players shoes 2 seasons. Fleury could retire when his contract is up so I don't see him wanting to spend his final tow seasons on a team that is rebuilding especially when Detroit won't be making the playoffs in those 2 seasons. Duke is bottom 6 in the AHL and more than likely will never play a NHL game.

There is no reason to move Zetterberg's contract.

The only thing that would stop this trade from happening is the NMC on Fleury. The Wings have no interest in winning this season - who cares who is playing in net? Highly, highly doubt that Yzerman would reject an opportunity to add another 1st next year, regardless of where it is in the round. Zetterberg doesn't even touch the ice anymore, what's the harm in trading his contract?

This is an easy yes from DET.
