Hate the bottom six

Created by: Theozler
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 16, 2020
Published: Dec. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I can’t think of a way to fix this without dealing nylander or marner, but I do not like the forward depth. New team I feel can actually roll four lines effectively and survive an injury.

I mean more in the sense that you’re more likely to block shots off your foot or hand. Yes risks are low but I’d rather my bottom six guys do that/play through those injury than my star who needs his hands in top condition

Yeah fair point. I hope he doesn't get injured killing penalties but I still think they should have him on the PK and he's got really good anticipation and I feel like it keeps him more engaged in the game. I get what you're saying though.

I dont mind the idea of the deal, but the first would be my sticking point, I could possibly see some bargain contracts going with laine to Toronto, for possibly a little revamp of some moose. Laine/niku/roslovic for marner/and picks or prospects possibly lillgren, not sure what’s on the leaf farm.

laine couldnt handle toronto media

You seem to imply that Toronto has a "harsh" media. Really nothing could be further from the truth. Sure there might be great numbers of media in Toronto, but they are very soft, and non critical of the team and players 99% of the time.

No chance Winnipeg adds a first when they are getting stuck with Marner's contact and a player that doesn't fill a need.

I'd rather have Marner at 10.9 than Laine at 9, which is likely what he'll want next year.

This is hilariously wrong. Any time any even hint of drama comes up, you'll be asked nothing but questions about it and by 4x the number of reporters as any other city. There is nothing kind about Toronto media. Burke's been doing the rounds lately and one thing he likes to talk about is how hard the media is to deal with in Toronto.

As long as players stay off social media they’ll be fine

Burke was saying the same thing when he was Leafs GM. Anybody could see through what Burke was doing when he was Leafs executive. He blamed the fans and media for putting too much pressure on the players. He was trying to divert attention away from the fact, he was totally lazy and incompetent as a Leaf executive. He is an entertainer now on TV. Whatever he says is for his ego and ratings, not necessarily having any truth to anything he says.
I wish folks would look at Burke's accomplishments during his last ten years as an NHL executive, not the lies that have constantly coming out of his mouth during the last 15 years.

Yup. Marner has a horrific contract. Winnipeg wouldn't want to get mixed up with it. If the Jets move Laine it's to fill holes, not get more expensive and not any better.

Just curious, how much money do you think Marner’s worth on a long term contract?
