If sabres are out of the race they may do this. They get younger and leafs add a veteran whose probably a better player ATM but only for one season.
Not bad
I have a feeling that Adams already told staal that he won’t be traded under no circumstances if he doesn’t want to. It came to a pretty big surprise to him that Minnesota traded him.

Staal is a type of player that could be the Leafs over the top......he can be moved up and down the lines and even put into the Centre position......I would think he would be willing to accept a trade to the Leafs in a heart beat.

He declined trades in the past to contenders. I don’t think he wants to be traded if he doesn’t want too.

Yeah, I doubt it. Not even talking about value, but like 923 said, he turned down trades to contenders before, because he didn’t want to be away from his kids. I would imagine that a trade to a Canada team would be off the table if border traveling is off the table for this reason. So again, I doubt it
Boarder crossing is a factor and complication in this. If we pretend he accepts the move to Toronto then leafs will have to remove kerfoot from the line up and wait at least two weeks to add staal to line up that’s a long time to put yourself short handed in a division that’s expected to be tight and a schedule that’s expected to be condensed. One injury in that time can be season defining. That’s why I personally think cross boarder trades aren’t really an option during the season. Can make a buyers type of trade but the time it takes to complete can see the entire season go to crap.

This is a good point. Hopefully vaccines roll out faster than the timelines are projecting right now.

Even if they do will professional athletes be a high priority? Probably not until a couple waves into the vaccines at which seems unlikely before deadline. When it comes to vaccine and the league it’s in their best interest to have general population taken care of first that will lead to fans in the seats faster than worrying about the players. Who knows tho it’s still 2020 anything can happen doesn’t look like 2021 will be much different

Yes i agree. I wasn't suggesting they will or should get it before general population. I'd say they will be included in that wave of distribution. But something tells me that teams will be able to secure them prior to the majority of fans. Similar to how easily teams were getting access to tests and getting same day (or next day) test results.
