Can't see neither team being interested tbh. TOR needs the versatility of Marner, and WPG shouldn't let go of Laine and his immense scoring potential just yet. Acquiring Marner wouldn't really fill any holes in Jets either as they're already loaded with wingers. If they trade Laine, it should be either for a C, or preferably a D after they drafted Perfetti.

The entire speculation about trading Laine in the first place is that they don't want to have another high priced winger... So this doesn't really solve anything for the Jets. We have essentially the exact same lineup plus our 1st round pick if we just stay status quo. It's a super easy "no thanks" for me.

as started above does not make sense from WIN side and only way Leaf's would move Marner is to reduce salary and maybe add a stud D. They don't need goals as they have 2 potentially 50 goal scores now.

Marner's contract makes this deal far worse than "just" Laine and a first. It is the cost of signing both a quality UFA on D and at F this season and is easily $2M more than Laine will resign for next season and beyond. Marner is not a top 20 talent in the NHL but is getting paid the 7th highest AAV. No matter how good a player is, a bad contract for the team puts a stink on them that won't go away.
