I'd play Vanecek and Copley over Howard tbh

I don’t think that a heart condition that stops you from playing hockey is defined as “opting out”.

Can't hurt to bring him in at league minimum for some depth and competition. Vanecek and Copley have yet to establish themselves as legitimate NHL goalies. Howard was at one point, and maybe he can find his form again playing behind a much better defense.

Howard is worse than almost any goalie they have in the organization or could get off waivers.

Even a waivers claim like Dell or Charlie Lindgren would be a better option for intern competition

He was their fourth goalie last year. He fell behind Vanecek. That contract can easily be buried they have no real need to play him.
