Initial Creation Date: Dec. 17, 2020
Published: Dec. 17, 2020

Description
I know these trades are not favourable for TB. The reality is TB is in a terrible cap situation, at the worst possible time (2020), therefore they are going to be exploited HARD.
Here’s what I think is a realist way to become a cap compliant team, NOT a better team, I think it’s extremely unlikely they could become a better team based on their situation.

ANA
  1. Killorn, Alex
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Yes, based on their cap situation and the fact no one is taking salary, they have to pay to get rid of Killorn.
3.
TBL
  1. Fabbro, Dante
Additional Details:
I know NASH is high on Fabbro and for good reason. But they decide to give up the good RD for an even better LD.
NSH
  1. Sergachev, Mikhail
Additional Details:
Although Sergachev is a hard piece to lose, this move gives them cap space and helps to balance their RD LD.

With every day that passes the value for these guys (TJ, Killorn, Palat, Gourde) get lower and lower JBB is digging his own grave here

Thats not true yet. As soon as Hoffman signs their value goes right back up

I’d argue Hoffman has very little correlation to their value. Hoffman signing doesn’t make TB any less desperate, while yes it would take a potential suitor off the market the fact that with every passing day Tampa has less and less time to get cap compliant and sign their RFAs makes it a wash at best for Tampa

This might balance the TBL defence, but it has the opposite effect for NSH.

As soon as Hoffman signs there's that much less cap space in the league, wouldn't that make it even harder to move guys with fairly sizeable cap hits like TJ, Palat, Gourde and Killorn?

Yeah when guys like Hoffman and Granlund finally get signed there'll be fewer trade partners for TBL's big contracts. The longer this goes on, the worse it will likely get for Tampa.

I agree with this statement, however NASH is not the contender they were a couple years back. Their current big 3 D are very good but aging, is NASH going to be a true contender again before they start to decline? I personally don’t think so.
They take the better player in this deal and worry about the LD RD balance down the road.

Hoffman's going to sign somewhere anyways so theyre technically is less cap space already. Their value wont plumet until the last week of the offseason.

as soon as Hoffman signs for like 3-4 mil those contracts are going to look even worse.

A lot of the comments here highlight how I came to my value figures, the longer TB waits the higher the cost. Almost half the teams in the league are currently over the cap or have less than 1 million in space. Some owners are losing money, who's taking on the significant amount of cap that TB needs to shed?
In my opinion any additional FA signings only increase the cost to move salary, even if they are good players, as there is less $ available.

Even his agent is saying he's not getting the offers close to where they wanted. If you're hoffman it's not that funny.

If Nashville can turn around and trade Mattias Ekholm for a young RHD or a forward improvement i think it'd work out good for us. Granted our RHD depth takes a considerable hit but i think Allard/Carrier could take up the 3rd pairing and Benning could be used in a pinch if need be. We could perhaps get a short term stop gap from a cap strapped team as well to fill in the gap at RHD

I feel like if Nashville takes this they turn around and trade Ekholm for a forward or young RHD to rebalance.

Im not going to waste my time arguing it but anyone who thinks it will cost Tampa other resources to move someone like Killorn or Palat is an idiot

Agreed, also it's entirely possible that Brisebois already has some deals in place and he's just waiting for season start dates and everything to be official. There's no reason for Tampa to make any moves until there's a season confirmed 100%.

He's also the guy who keeps advocating that Tampa will have to trade Point...it's good for the laugh of the day on here I guess.

Ok Mr. Not Going to Waste My Time, what happens if Killorn or Palat say no? They don't like the trade, they don't like the city, they don't like anything. Then what?

OR

Which team has the cap space AND the internal budget to take them on?

This isn't a time waster, this is a serious question. Prove your point.

Yeah he and a couple of others are just the latest to go on ignore. I'm done dealing with the usual "I have a crystal ball and I know what's going to happen with Tampa and its the worst case scenario since my team isn't nearly as good and it's not fair wahhhh"

Nah, there's no point to prove, as you have done nothing but assume what will happen. As I've already said, you have no evidence saying either Johnson or Killorn won't agree to a trade, just your own hopes and assumptions. Until you either have a confirmed source that says they won't move or Brisebois makes a move, then guess what, you know jack **** more then anyone else. Anyway, back to ignore you go and now, back to reality.
