I can't see Detroit taking Johnson for Rafferty and a low pick. I really like the idea of adding Cernak tho

Might as well just cut Vancouver out because Cernak is worth a ton more than that package.

Could be sweetened for the Wings.

Tampa would do lots of moves involving Johnson before giving up Cernak just to get him off the books. That’s heavily favoured towards VAN

4/5m in todays cap world is difficult.

Yeah I'd rather have cernak with Johnson than rafferty and a pick. Detroit would leave vancouver out in stead

"Isn't an easy asset to move" is an understatement. "almost impossible" is a better statement. If Tampa wants to move TJ, they'll be giving up a lot. Cernak is a big piece, but Tampa has yet to sign him and there is no certainty that he'll sign for $2M/yr. It might be $2.5M or $3M. This drops the potential trade partners to 6 or 7, and even this doesn't get Tampa under under the cap.....not even close

Johnson’s deal is moveable. Attach a pick or two and he’s gone. If Marc staal can be moved for a second, then a guy who’s still a top 6 player on lots of teams for 5 mil isn’t gonna be crazy hard to trade

Exactly. Everyone thinking TB is in the drivers seat in any way are deluded. 1.9m over the cap already with 4 to sign is a humongous hurdle. They need to dump 5.4m if they only signed 5 min 700k contracts. So add a ton to that to resign Cirelli & Cernak.

I find it hilarious that escapes so many ppl who pop in & say otherwise let alone not tweak an offer.

An OS for Cernak & TB accepts means they cannot stop an OS on Cirelli or vice versa.

Not saying that will happen but that is a huge threat & defenceless to stop. Any team with cap space to help TB knows this & can extort what they want. Nobody else is doing TB any favours. Staal for a 2nd already was a horrible trade on Wings part. TB will get bent over more than once.

Agreed, Tampa won't attach Cernak to any deal as moving Johnson is helping free the space to sign him. It'll probably be something like Tampa's 1st+a solid prospect and maybe a mid pick/lesser prospect, just depends on the teams involved.

I honestly think Tampa’s first gets it done. People were surprised Johnson didn’t get taken as a waiver claim. Obviously Tampa isn’t in the driver seat, but they aren’t completely stuck either. They don’t have to get fleeced in a way unfair trade to move Johnson, otherwise they’d just move someone else

Staal is one and done though you know exactly what your getting. Johnson is a bit of a mystery right now.

Okie dokie it’s as simple as JUST MOVE SOMEONE ELSE.
We’ll ignore age term & NTC’s & use white out.

TBL are more than stuck if ever a team was.

I never said TJ was easy move but rather Cernak >>> Rafferty + 4th. If you’re going to sweeten it then Rafferty doesn’t have much value to us with Hronek, Seider, and Stetcher locking down our RD. So I’m saying just cut Vancouver out of the deal and Detroit takes TJ + Cernak in this hypothetical.
