Crazy Arizona trade

Created by: ecupirate07
Team: 2020-21 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 17, 2020
Published: Dec. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In 21 the real money
7.5 million for Goligoski, Kuemper
8.25 million for Dzingel, Gardiner, and Reimer

in 21-22
5.5 million for Kuemper
4.2 million for Gardiner

Obviously the 21 real money doesnt look good for Arizona and wouldnt make sense for them to add 750k more. If they eat half of Reimer's cap (and 425k of real money) to flip to Washington for a decent mid round pick or prospect (a pre-requisite for this big trade) and then flip Dzingel to Florida or Nashville for a minimal return. The real money for 21 becomes 3.925 million, a savings of 3.575 million while replacing Goligoski on the roster. On top of that, it is a savings of 1.3 million for 21-22 (more if Seattle takes Gardiner). Arizona gains Bokk and a 1st plus anything gained from the other trades.

Canes do it because they gain their legit goalie, veteran leadership on the defensive line, and 4 million in cap relief on the defense in 21-22.

Arizona gains 5 million in actual money relief, 1st, a good winger prospect, anything else gained in moving the other 2. and another defender signed past the 2021 season that meets the requirements to be exposed.

I dont think we make this less complicated by doing a Kuemper only trade as the Canes wo want to carry 3 1-way goalies and cant afford to eat cap space to move one of them to Washington or elsewhere.

Superb, recognizing the real money factor, among other nuances... wish more AGMs were like this 👍

At first glance I thought it was an overpay (and it might be a slight one) but when considering the salary dump essentially of Gardiner with Bokk and a 1st for a quality starter, I'm down. I personally would want to keep Reims of Petr, but thats just me.

Well done.

Thanks. Im not sure if the trade is where it needs to be. As I get into it though I started realizing that the Coyotes need to re-sign a defender, play Capobianco a bunch, or they risk having to expose Chychrun in the expansion draft.

I tried to make it more complicated by adding a Nino and Dvorak but it would cost to much from the Canes perspective. Schmaltz doesn’t make sense for the Canes.

I would rather keep Reimer too but I don’t see us getting Arizona to agree to eating half of his salary to move him to Washington. 425k is easier than 1.6 million.

I like the idea I think the price is a bit steep tho with bokk and a first. I think either downgrade the prospect a bit or change the first to a 2nd and I’m on board
