It was too good of a player to pass up. These other UFA goalies aren't close to the King. Report has been out that Caps were ready to roll with Sammy-Van for next season then the King got bought out so they jumped on it.

But I still think the Caps will look to sign a vet. I think they should. The window is closing, and the Caps cannot have a two rookies (Sammy 26 games I know) as the goalie tandem. Neither have playoff experience either. And god forbid, one goes down (specifically Sammy), what then? Copley and Vanecek? I think not...
