Quit it with Hoffman

Created by: RClay321

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 19, 2020
Published: Dec. 19, 2020

Description
Hoffman doesn't fit the Blues system, it just wouldn't work. If anything they need a bottom pair RD imo, but could let Perunovich and Mikkola split time there with Botrz along with splitting time with Scandella. Personally, I would like them to try to move Dunn for a young forward like Debrusk. Maybe a package of Dunn and Sanford for Debrusk and a draft pick

That Dunn trade idea is kinda interesting.

STL acquires: DeBrusk and Lauzon

BOS acquires: Dunn and Sanford

Could see that (or something similar) benefiting both sides

Interesting trade idea, but why the desire to move Dunn? Is he expendable with who the Blues have in the pipeline?

Mikkola and Perunovich are coming and most people see Perunovich and Dunn as similar players with Krug locked up long term it’s hard to roll out 3 offensive Defensemen on the left side

I like DeBrusk, but Dunn is way too good for that to even pop out on my radar for a trade.

So no Dunn is not expendable. Difference for me is that I know Perunovich rolls out at RD as well as LD. I'd replace Faulk with Perunovich, and replace Scandella with Mikkola. Mikkola is defensively really good, and Perunovich is probably going to be Top 4 Defenseman caliber.

Krug-Parayko
Dunn-Bortuzzo
Mikkola-Perunovich

I know that seems a bit strange but down the stretch it would be Dunn-Bortz pairing as the 3rd. Faulk is abysmal only thing I would really want him for is PP he does well to improve our PP but other than that it's terrible. Trade wise I wouldn't mind trading away Sanford, but Dunn on the Adv. Stat Charts is a Top 25 Defenseman. I know people say well he's sheltered, and he never really gets big chances, well this is the year where he can prove it. Regardless on my thoughts on the 2019 Stanley Cup run. I'd be interested in DeBrusk, but it would be more based around a draft pick, and a guy like Sanford with maybe some other details involved, but I wouldn't include Dunn in that.

Problem here is Bortuzzo is not a second pairing dman, he is best served as a 7th that can rotate in from time to time. also, if you want Debrusk it has to include a NHL ready Dman for Boston, that pretty much only leaves Dunn. Faulk isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be either. He actually looked good in the playoffs (sometimes the best D-man out there).

It's pretty bad, and if it has to include a defenseman in a position they don't need LHD they have like 6 defenseman at that position down all the way to the farm if that's what it costs then I wouldn't be interested. And best D out there because everyone was not very good.

you have mixed thoughts on it. Honestly I wouldn't, but I've been paying attention to the advanced stats I wouldn't do that for the Blues. DeBrusk isn't worth Dunn.

Advanced stats are ok, but I never take them seriously. Florida tried to build a team based on advanced stats and failed miserably. I much prefer the eye test where if a player looks good then they are good

you have to get a bit of both. You can't possibly tell me something thats wrong enough to want to get rid of him like he's a dump.

I respect that. Dunn has been very good, I know and Sanford is no slouch either. I really like DeBrusk’s potential, his two-way ability is very promising. But probably not worth Dunn. Just spitballing

In the summer of 16? Huberdeau getting hurt and Ekblad regressing out of nowhere certainly didn’t help that endeavour. And then when those guys got healthy, they traded two of their better players for nothing. Oops....

I'm not a huge fan of Sanford he's very inconsistent on the roster unless he gets carried by ROR.

Perunovich is a lefty but he’s traditionally played on the right side

come here at the end of the season, Hoffman isn't a good fit in St. Louis. They already had too many forwards as is, now someone is going to sit that should be starting imo.

But our extra forwards are guys like Mac, Blais, DLR, and Kyrou. None of them besides maybe an incredible breakout from Kyrou are capable of 30g.

Hoffman doesn't play defense though, Blues fans are going to hate him halfway into the season.

You might be right. But you also might be wrong. Hoffman on a line with Stanley Cup champion and Selke award winner Ryan O’Reilly could produce some magic and just maybe inspire a little defense. Be pessimistic, but give it a chance before you say “I told you so.”
