I really like the Pittsburgh trade. Think it is fair value for both sides.

Ducks probably just keep Manson. Poolman is a fringe NHLer, Niku while decent is 24 and is a LHD which the Ducks already have an abundance of.

Ducks two biggest needs are RHD and right shot forwards this deal subtracts from one of those with out adding to either

Pens are paying a lot but if they are really confident that Matheson can be a decent top 4 D and bounce back, I’d do it.

Petterson-Letang
Matheson-Marino

I don’t see why Ducks would retain. You have room anyways. For Laine I’d be okay with it as long as our scouts believe Poulin can be a top 6 guy in the next 2 years. And/or if we feel we need to offload Laine before next offseason

Winnipeg won't do that PIT trade as it's not worth it to trade Laine for a LD as the main pieces. We have too many LD in our system already.

One of the Pittsburgh players at least would need to be swapped out for a player that actually fills a long term need for Winnipeg.

how is this suppose to work for the penguins.
They get 4 mil in cap space from Dumo and then have to sign Marino and Laine.....that's some new math if I've ever seen it.
