I do think the Sabres would trade Montour,
but i can’t see us wanting Gilles
Maybe throw in another pick or prospect instead?

Really? I saw a team that could make use of a good right dman and a flyer on veteran back up incase thier prospects struggle.....
I know the trades a little silly on the sabres side but i thought it was exactly what the blues needed.

Eh it was more about what the blues could do with steens retirement to shore up thier team. I think this is all they'd be willing to pay as thier cupboards are thinning out and goalie prospects with little nhl experience was thier strong suit. If the sabres are gonna go ullmark/upl nect year that leave portillo as our only real prospect left in the system. Figured we could use an ahl vet.

Our RD is full. We could maybe use a young prospect type, but then Perunovich has played on the right a lot so maybe it's not needed after all. We certainly don't need to spend $3M on one. As for the goalie, Husso is getting his shot first and he seemed to turn a corner the last half of last season. You don't know until you know, but he looks ready for the jump. And even if we did want a back-up, it sure as hell would not be broken down Hutton, who is still living off the one good pro season he had.

AHL vet goalies are easy to sign every year though
This season we inked Tokarski
Last season we signed Andrew Hammond
It’s just not a position we need to trade for & i’m sure we’d rather have a mid round pick instead
