24 days till the season. Like 10 or whatever till camp starts. If they are going to sign someone I don't know what they are waiting on.
I think we are about to see Blueger and Lafferty at center this season.
If they can give Blueger better linemates maybe he can drive play.
McCann Blueger and Poulin doesn't sound horrible.
Whoever, Lafferty, Tanev would still probably be solid defensively.

Truth is they can't shelf the Jankowski as 3C idea fast enough for them to actually sign a better center. But I think we all know that's coming.

IMO, GMJR is waiting for all these teams that are over the Cap to maybe make a deal & get one of - a 3C, a Top 9 Forward, & another NHL type Goalie.
and maybe then sign the other.

I was also hoping to get a NHL caliber back up via a waiver Goalie but that is out of the question now w/ teams keeping 3 Goalies, So now we are 1 Jarry injury away from having 2 Goalies I wouldnt want on an AHL Team in DeSmith & Lagace, lol. If Jarry gets injured this season, we could be giving MIN the #1 overall pick.

I also think its time for Pens fans to realize that Poulin is not ready yet. I mean if he cant make a Under 20 Canadian team, well he isn't ready for NHL Hockey yet. I still think he will be a good NHLer but prob in 22'-23' he will be ready w/ a call up in 21'-22'.

I am a Big Blueger fan but if he is ur 3rd line Center ur prob not a Playoff team & he is a 4th line Center on a good team.

I don't think the issue of Poulin is just him. It's the team as well. At some point it boils down to how bad do you want to win? Because you have nothing. ERod is not a 3rd liner and Jankowski got out played by Lucic last year. If that's what's holding Poulin back, we need to have a come to jesus moment about if this team wants to actually compete or if it's just going through motions.
We have 1 3rd line player. 1. If we don't play youth at this point, we are not a playoff team. At least not a good one. Our 3rd pairing is shaky on paper. Our 3rd line doesn't exist. That is what defines this team right now. DeSmith is the least of the problems this team has. Guys on this team need a short leash, like Ceci and Jankowski. But if they get up there and say it's fine, it's not them, we're going to be in trouble.
After the 1st month of the season we could all be asking for POJ and Maniscalco on that bottom pair and Poulin and Legare on the 3rd line. Because there is nothing to lose at this point.

DUDE I 100000% agree with u about 3rd line....

I have said over & over that.....
- Janko played Center for 1st 2 playoff games at 4th line C for like 11min TOI,
- Then in 3rd playoff game got replaced as 4th line Center by a LWer - Lucic (yes that Lucic) played like 6min of TOI
- The 4th game Janko was so bad he played like 3 min TOI
- Then by the 5th game he was replaced in line up by Z. Rinaldo & never seen the ice again.

So Pens fans actually think that a guy who got replaced by M. Lucic then by Z. Rinaldo as a 4th liner.... Is now going to be our 3C???

Only bc of the Compacted schedule this yr, all Good teams will need 2- NHL able Goalies, shoot maybe even 3 Goalies.
- DeSmith is what he is & that is a good #3 Goalie, If he is our back-up Goalie & has to start 20 games or more....
That will be the difference in finishing 5th in our division this yr & not making the Playoffs.

I don't think the schedule is as compact as your making it out to be. it's 56 games from Jan 13 - may 8th. That's almost 4 months 116 days. That's more than 2 days a game. The fake news has over hyped this. Will there be back to backs sure. Will it be as bas as they say, no. If it was they wouldn't need 116 games to play 56. There are easily not going to be tons of back to backs in that.
And they will want the starters to play most of those games like a normal season. The only real problem is injury, but that is true on all teams. If you lose your starting goalie you are going to be in trouble with just about every team in the league.
