Sure it is, but I don’t see the oilers finishing that low.

I think it's possible. Their depth is still not great, and their defense isn't anything amazing either.

2-6 in the Canadian division is a complete toss-up

I really don't think 1 is sure to be the Leafs. Last season Edmonton finished with 83 points, Toronto with 81, Winnipeg with 80, Calgary with 79, and Vancouver with 78. Calgary has improved, Vancouver is probably mostly lateral depending on player progression. Edmonton and Winnipeg are lateral. The two teams significantly worse than the rest, Montreal and Ottawa, have both improved the most. I would not be shocked at all if Toronto finishes anywhere from 1-6, with Ottawa still being the clear last place team in the division.

Toronto is very clearly the best Canadian team. They have the superstar power the other teams don't and they've improved on defense and depth-wise. It would be very surprising if they did not finish first

Their superstar power landed them as the second best Canadian team last year, not significantly ahead of three others. That's literally what I just said to you. Signing a washed up Brodie doesn't change much. And as far as star power goes, Edmonton has two players better than anyone on Toronto's roster.

"Washed up Brodie" Lol. I don't think it's in any way guaranteed that the Leafs top the division (or even make the playoffs), but that's just ridiculous. He's a very solid Dman.

He is very much well beyond his prime. He was in Calgary, and him signing in Toronto doesn't change that, as much as you want it to.

Being past your prime and being washed up are not the same thing.

Toronto finished 2 points behind Edm, while having a game in hand. Also, leafs missed JT for 6 weeks, marner for 5 weeks, Reilly for 2 months, muzzin for 2 months as well. The fact that the oilers weren’t much ahead of the leafs is really sad lol. If they leafs were healthy, they would’ve certainly finished ahead of the oilers, no question.

Drai is not better than Matthews lol. And beyond Drai, McDavid, Nuge the oilers rlly don’t have anything lol. If u think Brodie is beyond his prime, Turris was literally a healthy scratch multiple times last year lmao. Flames and leafs are both clearly better than the oilers.

And not to Mention, the oilers haven’t beat Freddie Andersen in regulation, ever lol. They’ve only beat the Leafs 4 times since 2010 as well lol

You have to take into account the divisions from last season if your talking about last seasons point totals. That pacific division wasn't very good last season. So I wouldn't use their point totals to say edmonton, calgary, or vancouver are as good as toronto. I'd argue that Winnipeg is pretty underrated considering they usually play in the central, arguably the best division. I can see the jets finishing as high as 2nd in the division.

As a Flames fan, Leon Draisaitl is so much better than Auston Matthews that it is legitimately embarrassing that you can call yourself a hockey fan after saying that. The Oilers have Yamamoto and Kahun and that's something. Brodie will be a travesty in Toronto, we've seen this movie twice before. Oilers fans really think Kyle Turris will put them over the top lmao. You're right on that one. Also correct on the last part

Leafs aren't a lock for 1st lmao. Favourites, but don't be shocked if Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal or Winnipeg go crazy and you miss the playoffs.

Edmonton's goal differential at 5v5 tells the true story of their team and they did nothing to improve on that. Meanwhile the Leafs have a better defence and a full season under the coaching staff that saw them operate on the 8th best record despite missing Rielly and Muzzin for half that time.

They really aren't good. Terrible at 5v5 and did nothing to improve anything. And their best defenceman could miss the whole season. Very little needs to go wrong to see the Oilers finish 2nd last, while everything needs to go right for them to challenge for the top of the division.

No one can say that unless they take everything outlier bad thing that happened to TO last season and assume it will be the norm. That just is silly.

No he isn't lol, Matthews accomplished more at a younger age and has done it without McDavid boosting his stats and in less playing time. Also Draisaitl is a bad player defensively while Matthews is a terrific 2 way player. It's not close.

I like what they did to their forward depth and I can’t bet against McDavid and Drai. Their defense is iffy but so is everyones in the Canadian division and they got a lot of young guys who could step up (Jones, Bear who’s already good, Bouchard)

I don't think they'll miss the playoffs but they're not close to as safe as everyone thinks. More cause for concern here than in the Atlantic.
