While the argument for best player of the generation is usually Crosby vs. Ovechkin, you have Kane and Malkin just a notch below; they play different positions and have different playing styles, but are comparable in terms of career numbers and achievements - who would you say has been better?

Kane has scored 389 goals and 1022 points in 973 career regular-season games (1.05 Points per game). In the playoffs, he has 52 goals and 132 points in 136 games (0.97 PPG).

Malkin has scored 416 goals and 1076 points in 907 career regular-season games (1.19 Points per game). In the playoffs, he has 169 points in 166 games (1.02 points per game).

Both players have won the Calder, Art Ross, Hart, Lindsey and Conn Smythe trophies. They both have 3 cups with their respective teams. Personally, I think they have played at pretty much the same level, though I believe Kane will go on to be the greater player because of his ability to stay healthy.

My vote goes to Malkin. Both are incredible players but I’m slightly swayed for Evegni since he was left off the top 100 players of all time list. That was terrible and shows just how unappreciated he really is. Tough playing in Crosby’s wake

I'm a hawks fan. So I want to qualify that first and up front. While I like Kaner more...Malkin's done more to date. It's close. I think that by the time both decided to retire that Kane will be higher than Malkin though. While their games do have differences...there are also similarities.

Differences - Center/Wing is the 1st that comes to mind, but also Malkin plays a more powerful game where Kane's is finesse game. We can even see the ramiifications taking place over the past few years let alone how that affect will be going forward...Malkin's been getting hurt more and more recently. Kane has missed literally 1 game in the last 5 years.

Similarities - Neither player is asked to play any defense. They're both pure offensive minded players. Believe it or not...Kane's played almost twice as much PK time in the past 3 years than Malkin. I didn't think it was possible to play less PK time than Kane, but Malkin found a way.

All in all...I don't see Kane retiring any time soon and thus he'll keep piling up the stats, but I could see Malkin deciding maybe he'd go to Russia or maybe he'd just retire because he can't stay healthy. For two purely offesnive minded players it'll be about stats and Kane will ultimately have more when it's all said and done. Just one man's opinion.

Yeah I agree. Neither of them play defence, which is fine given how much offence they generate. I definitely think Kane will have a longer career. Malkin’s plays like a power forward, he likes to hit & make contact. Given the wear & tear of his style, I think he’s only got a few years left.

Malkin. At the highest point of his career I'd say Malkin was the best player on the planet. Can't say the same about Kaner, even though he's an amazing player too.

Better is a very hard way to put it.

Kane has had a bigger impact on the game, as a much more dynamic player. In other words, his style of play did more to the game by influencing the younger generation in my opinion. From a pure talent perspective, Kane all day long. If I had to put the puck on the stick of a player today down a goal and 2 minutes left, I'd put in Kane's stick all day long.

Yeah from 2008-2012, Geno played at a crazy high level. Definitely in the conversation as best player in the world.

That’s true. As the most talented finesse player of all time, Kane helped change the game from being based on grit and physicality to now being based primarily on speed and skill.

My biased opinion completely agrees with this. My sons middle name is Kane. You hear way more young NHL players saying they want to be Patrick Kane than any other player
