Description
a bunch of different ideas

1.
BUF
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (PHI)
2.
PHI
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (TBL)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
No one wanted Johnson for free from waivers, add 2 2nds , saves TB 2.7mil
TBL
  1. Laughton, Scott
Additional Details:
Philly needs johnsons speed more than Laughton's two way game
3.
PHI
  1. Wood, Miles
  2. 2022 4th round pick (NJD)
  3. 2023 4th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
NJ needs a reliable winger to assist youth in their progression, JVR is a top 2 line guy, Woods is not. 2 4ths pay for salary retention
NJD
  1. van Riemsdyk, James ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
JVR is still a 45-55pt reliable winger, only 30 and with salary retention, not overpaid by much
4.
PHI
  1. MacDermid, Kurtis
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (TOR)
  3. 2021 4th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
MacDermid is a borderline NHLer, who can throw mitts, and the picks should be late round
LAK
  1. Aubé-Kubel, Nicolas
Additional Details:
Philly adds a bit size and toughness, and NAK is a metrics beast, very young and solid 2 way

Tampa Bay doesn’t free enough cap space for those picks. By The Way the whole “no one wanted Johnson for free” garbage thing that was before FA signings and trades and teams actually knew what this year would look like. Need Johnson’s sped more than Laughtons 2way play Johnson is very good in his own end.

So Tampa only saves $2.7 million on the deal, Not enough cap savings for Tampa so they would easily decline that offer.

Kings decline. We have Wagner, Moore, ****emo, and Thomas for that spot.

Your assessment of MacDermid is very inaccurate. He is not a borderline NHLer, he is an NHLer. Makes the right decisions in his own end every time and has decent offensive instincts.

SO no one wanted Johnson when they had cap space ("before FA signings and trades and teams actually knew what this year would look like") is your rationale that he carries value now?

Hey, TB's cap issues are theirs, but to most fans it looks like they will be lucky to move Johnson and a 1st or 2nd for no return. Don't get me wrong, nice player, bad contract, and proving very impossible to move. But hey, TB fans aren't worried, they still another 10 days or so to move a salary and re-sign cirelli and cernak.

The main thing is taking the whole contract and sending nothing back with johnson. They don't want to trade him, they need cap space and he's expendable. So the trade is probably T Johnson for nothing back. You'll need to trade laughton to some one else. The value there is you get TJ for free and he only costs 5mil.
