How much have you seen Ekblad play? He wins a Norris. Next 3-5 years. No low selling Right hand shot big mean physical defenseman who stakes well and has a great shot. And as a lightning fan I’d rather deal with laine regularly than Ekblad

I personally just don’t see Ekblad ever leaving Florida, but that’s a really interesting trade proposal. Well done

Adding Pionk and only getting Vatrano back, who the Jets don't need at all, is a huge overpay by Winnipeg. I don't think the Jets would consider it.

If he does it's for Detroit or something like that, He and his fiancee are building a home not more then 15 to 20 minutes from Little Caesars Arena and he grew up a diehard Red Wings fan. I can definitely see Ekblad in Detroit once his current contract expires. But as of right now Laine doesn't get you Ekblad Winnipeg still needs to add.

He doesn't have any trade protection yet, but don't see the Jets giving up that much

If a deal is worked out, I think Laine for Ekblad is a good starting poiint, but with Ekblad being under contract for 5 years at a reasonable cap hit and Laine being an RFA, the jets would need to add. top pairing D are simply more valuable than goal scoring wingers, but the panthers should be intrigued by the deal...a Barkov/Laine combination is pretty exciting.
