Guy is being qualified at 4.125m in three years according to Morreale, given his upward trajectory I'd bet he's gonna be worth helluva lot more than that at expiry.
I'm a bit surprised that they didn't use their mountain of cap to lock up Blackwood for 7-8 years, but hey, perhaps they agreed to sort of a prove-it pact to see if the starting-caliber play keeps up. Good contract.
This dude needs a better agent. Potential starter who could've gotten long term for a bigger cap hit? Devils nailed this
No, I think it's the right contract for both sides. Blackwood likely wanted to get his payday after COVID. This would do just that. I'm going to guess that the only RFA this year that's going to get a 7-8 year deal is Dubois, mainly because I think that Columbus wants to make a statement that there are superstars out there that want to commit to Columbus long-term.
Looks great, Tristan Jarry is a similar comparison, but Blackwood has better numbers, is more experienced. Overall, this deal seems better 'cause he's cheaper, and at the end of the deal still not free.
