Nice depth signing. He’ll be the 13th forward who’s there in case of injuries. The 1-way contract makes me think he isn’t going on the taxi squad, which could mean that MB either intends to trade Kulak or put Juulsen on waivers.
Edit: So we’d actually be $42K over the cap if we kept Kulak & put Juulsen on waivers. So it’ll either be that we trade Kulak or put Frolík on waivers and keep him on the taxi-squad.

Another foward will be traded or Frolik's on waiver.
Also I would trade away Mete before Kulak, but let be honest here, bergy never trade away his defensemen..

Trading away Mete accomplishes nothing, because he barely makes more than league minimum. Kulak is better, but Mete is more cost effective. And Frolík will be placed on waivers if MB is sure that no one will claim him.
And yeah, I know it’s unlikely that he trades Kulak. And I obviously trust him to stay under the cap this year. I’m just worried that next year is going to get even tighter cap-wise because keeping an extra 3rd pairing D caused us to have performance bonus overages.
A)Frolik will be part of the taxi squad. Why would he sign here then? I can't see him passing waivers back and forth...
He only needs to pass waivers once, at the start of the year, unless he spends a significant amount of time on the roster. And waivers for returning to the NHL don’t exist anymore.
Also he’ll likely wear #67 which will look extremely weird, especially because he shoots the same way, plays the same position, and is around the same height as Patches.
I don't mind the signing but I mean, for that price wouldn't you rather have like Trevor Lewis, Frederik Gauthier, Matt Martin or even like Colin Wilson? Just seems odd that they picked Frolik.

Frolik has more offensive potential than any of those players except Wilson. Also it's worth noting that it's likely none of those players would even want to play in Montreal
Excuse me? How can you put “defensive” and “Weal” in the same sentence?
Also Frolík is $275K cheaper than Weal is in the NHL.
I think depth forward are often assumed to be good defensively, but in Weal's case that doesn't really apply. I guess he's OK on face-offs but you are right, a defensive whiz he is not.

Yeah, Weal’s only benefit in the NHL is his playmaking, which isn’t ideal for a 4th liner.
When Weal's on the ice, not a lot of goals are scored against habs. This is how I put defensive and Weal in the same sentence.
What are you talking about? A lot of goals are scored against the habs when he’s on the ice. He had the 5th worst plus minus on the habs while playing against the easiest competition. And the worst even strength GF% on the team out of players playing 40 or more games. And it’s clear that Julien has absolutely no faith in him defensively.
