made sense as he had no leverage to get more than his QA. Lets see if he improves or gets moved at the deadline

this is a case of needs to be moved to a new team.
At some point both sides need to recognize it didn't work out and give him a second chance somewhere else.

No, it’s his qualifying offer which probably was the most money he would get so he accepted it

Obviously a good signing. I'd love to be surprised and have him make the team but I think he needs more time in the A. Still got a lot of skill and good upside as long as we don't rush him more and support him once he gets to the NHL level full time

Wow, that's dirt cheap. Maybe a trade piece this season?

I have probably asked this already but what's up with Middlestadt? Seems like he's having trouble securing a place on the roster. Just growing pains adjusting to the NHL?

he has to prove himself, otherwise he will be labelled a bust forever

It seems to me that he's a top six Forward who's not good enough to play in the top six. He's not really built for a more defensive role either. So unless he's scoring 45+ points, he really serves no purpose on an NHL roster. I don't think he's a bust, though. He was just physically and maybe mentally immature. He'll be a solid NHL Forward in another year or 2.

Normally I would agree 100%. Nylander absolutely had to go and BUF got pretty solid value for him. But, I think the market value for Casey is too low to trade. BUF would get crushed and he could still become a top 6 Forward. I would roll the dice and keep him for at least another year. He probably wouldn't bring better than a 2nd rounder at this point.

I would not be surprised if he comes in and puts up 20 points or more this year
