You'll have to pay more than a slightly upgraded draft pick for LA to take your garbage.

I disagree. Kulak and Weal aren’t garbage. Canucks could sure use some cheap depth pieces like them

Garbage? Weal is not too good but only have 1 year left. Kulak is a great 3rd pair guy, who can easily play on a 2nd pair, and a 2nd round pick

The Kings had Weal's rights for 6 years. He was pretty garbage. Played well enough at the AHL level, but he just doesn't have the size and/or skillset to be an effective NHL player.

Kulak is a replacement level defenseman. He'd be OK as a 6/7 defenseman on some bottom-feeding teams, but there are better options for cheaper. If he was on a league minimum contract, then I could see a team taking a flyer on him. In the current market, no one is going to assist the Habs by taking his contract without sending back a bad one of their own.

Weal is fine in a 4th line role and Kulak is actually a very underrated D. He’s solid on the 3rd pairing and can slide up in case of an injury. They aren’t cap dumps

In the current market, they wouldn't get taken for free off waivers. They both make about double what they are worth. No team will take them without more coming back or unless Montreal was willing to eat an equal amount of cap space in return.

A solid bottom pairing D is worth about exactly what Kulak makes. Idk enough about Weal but Kulak is definitely underrated
CARBONNEAU21 and HabsForEver liked this.
