Can Tampa fit Cirelli without any more moves

Created by: tkecanuck341
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 23, 2020
Published: Dec. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Running with a 20-man roster. Burying players with cap hits over the $1.075M buried contract limits on the taxi squad to maximize space. It won't necessarily be Coleman and Rutta, but those contracts were the least expensive that satisfied the requirements.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Taxi Squad guys have to either clear waivers or be waiver exempt.

I could be very wrong, I'm like 50/50 on that, but considering they carry "buried" cap hits, I imagine that would be the case. No way TBL would waive Coleman. I think this could still work though - maybe instead of Coleman and Rutta, they assign Paquette and Coburn to the TS. Not sure if that would work with the cap, but I also don't see Cirelli getting that much, so I think it would fit.

They do have to clear waivers. Again, as I said in my description, it doesn't have to be those two guys, just any two guys that each have a cap hit in excess of $1.075M.

I hope not what cheesey way out. Sadly they probably could, but I do think they should shed one contract for flexibility. Now they can shed Killorn for a somewhat fair price, and they all good until next year. Johnson, Gourde with one less year, easier to trade. I’d say it’s lucky but well orchestrated TBay.
