Laine to Detroit

Description
For the record I'm against trading Laine but I'm about 99.9% sure he's getting moved at some point so I'm trying to get used to the idea as much as I hate it.. 😃.. He's a pretty polarizing player, don't think he'll get as good a return as Jets fans would like whether they overrate him or not, so is this fair or not enough? Would Detroit consider it?
Obviously both teams would need to have an idea of the contracts these guys are looking for before making this deal, Wings have Seider coming and some other good D prospects so maybe they'd part with Hronek, sending Gawanke along with Laine to cushion the loss of Hronek, he's an RHD prospect that had a good first pro season in the AHL.

Trading Roslovic cause he wants out, I don't think he should be traded but he seems as good as gone so trying to recoup something for him, don't give me any nonsense about Borgström being untouchable cause his AHL numbers are hardly impressive.

Bruins fans are steadily dumping Ritchie and the Jets could use some size so why not.

The Jets could add a little bit to these deals but not much, I think they're pretty fair. Winnipeg would have plenty of cap space to sign their RFAs and UFA's in the offseason and as for the expansion draft who cares, that can be figured out later.

So are these fair deals or not, is Laine worth more or not, do any of these teams consider these deals?
Let me know in the comment section but let's keep them constructive, thanks!

If Zadina pans out and Raymond comes in, does DET really need Laine? I think they would rather keep Hronek, regardless of value, since they have firepower coming to their team soon. They need a center more than a winger at this point.

If that's all Laine would return in a trade now, then Jets are just better off keeping him for 3 years and letting him walk as a UFA.

I agree with this. While I don’t think that the Jets will get the value they want, there are better deals out there. I’d rather let him walk after 3 years than take a crappy deal

I'm a Laine fan but honestly Detroit doesn't have enough pieces in place to accept a trade like this. They have what 4 good players and a bunch of promising prospects

Honestly, I think they have the pieces to replace what’s lost in this trade. But they’d say no because if Zadina works out and if Raymond pans out they have no need for laine.

Yes but as you said "If they work out" and since they haven't worked out yet it puts it us back to Detroit not having enough good pieces in place to accept this trade. Plus with out Hronek there is a good chance Detroit drafts Drysdale.

My theory on the jets window being three years, or a forever bubble. I’m hoping for moves to make this team the best possible team for next 3 years, and the possibility of needing to sell laine and scheifele after year three and rebuild. So a trade now for best package available doesn’t really suit me til there’s a few pieces that could help instantly and elevate squad for next few years.

I've commented the same thing on Laine trades on here, do we really think Chevy will make the subsequent moves necessary to go all in in the next three seasons if they kept Laine and let him walk a UFA?

I think Chevy will continue to try and keep improving the team as best he can in the next three years and won't let Laine walk as a UFA. The most likely scenario if Laine doesn't sign long term is trading him with 1 year of RFA left which should net a substantial return if Laine keeps improving like he did last year.

You have more faith in Chevy then I do Windjammer.. 😃

I really hope Laine is signed long term but I do think he'll be traded next offseason, really have no idea what the return will be.

The key word I had in there though is "try". Winking with Tongue Out. We still may not get any better results than we have so far. frown

The return for Laine is hard to peg though, I agree. It will all depend on how the upcoming and possibly the season after go for him.

Detroit’s RD looks good with Hronek + Seider but after that it’s Tuomisto and Lindstrom. I’m not a huge fan of trading for an area of strength, we have Mantha + Bert established top 6 and then Zadina, Raymond, and Berggren the next year or two. I also think it’s much easier to find a top 6 winger vs center/defensemen.

Simply put I think the guy with Dayoff in his name needs to "try" fu*king harder!!!.. 😂

Detroit passes, Yzerman already said that Filip Hronek is absolutely going nowhere. As much as i like Laine and i'm a big fan of his. I doubt Detroit has much interest in him Zadina will be good plus adding both Raymond and Berggren Laine is a luxury we can't afford right now.
