Just noticed the salary and "post tax earnings". These calculations are largely inaccurate. Athletes are incorporated and in many cases there salaries are tax at the corporate rate of 15% in Canada and 35% in the USA.
Also there is a reciprocal treaty where in many cases, athletes are taxed in there "home" jurisdiction when they withdraw money from their corporation. Unless like most working mortals, athletes, doctors, lawyers, entertainers can shelter their earning, especially ones at who make substantial money. And the home jurisdiction and different withdrawal rates would show that their is probably 20 different rate of taxes for individuals on one team. Lazy sportscasters recant these "tax rates" frequently just because they are too lazy to investigate. And wonder if the Gavin tax service that compiled your information on "post tax earnings" has had any tax law expertise. Cause if they do, they would be costing each of hockey clients thousand or maybe millions of dollars. It seems that they complications were made just by doing tax rates, which is largely insignificant when talking real tax rates and tax law.

They are intended to give an indicator of the varying tax rates based on the jurisdiction a player plays in, not intended to be used for your tax returns.

It wouldn't be feasible to determine the intricacies of every players tax situation, so simplicities must be made.
