I think DAL squeezed the last piece of juice out of him, but for $750k...why not?

He’s incredibly dirty, and I’ve found myself hating him a lot, especially against Edmonton in the playoffs. However, cheering for Dallas in the playoffs this year, I’ve found a new affinity for Perry I didn’t have before.

I’m sure that there are lots of times where I’ll hate him even as a habs fan, and even more times when other fans will hate him. However, he’s a decent player, especially in the playoffs and this is a good signing.

Also, I doubt he’d clear waivers to go to the taxi-squad, so there’s probably a Brett Kulak trade coming soon.

I share @Kotkaniemi15 appreciation of Perry, but we have to agree Bergevin wants to add playoff experience and winning attitude to his team and Perry fits that role. I guess we have to find a remplacement to Domi as a player fans will hate at times, but other teams will hate more often wink

Gallagher and Weber would be players the other team hates with Perry imo

Also great signing MB, adding depth to our team at a cheap cost

He’s 3 points shy of 800, and brings 145 playoff games (98 points) worth of experience to the table. Despite being in a clear decline from a few years ago, he’s great at getting under the other team’s skin. $750k is a good deal for a depth player that Perry has transitioned into

Perry in the playoffs for DAL scored 5G, including an OT GWG vs. Tampa. His toughness and net-front presence should prove very useful. MTL has had a great offseason, imo. A+

Just taking up a roster space from a younger guy at this point.
He was done last year, tires are off.

Also super weird that he would sign in Montreal to be a 13th forward. Did he not get an offer from Dallas, where he’d be in the lineup every game you’d think and is just coming off a berth in the finals.

Wow! Nobody can tell that it's a bad signing. Low risk high reward potential. It adds great depth and also it gives the Habs a effective playoff player!

Oilers fans hate Perry from when he was in our division. Smart move just to piss us off for the 9 games the Oil play the Habs 😂

Screw it. Let's hire Vatanen, Hamonic, AA and Chara. We'll find where to put them later!

Last year Kovalchuk was washed and would only take a spot away from a youngster..

People need to understand that for rookies to evolve they need good vets around so we don't end up like the 2010's Edmonton Oilers. Perry isn't asked to save the team just to get in front of the net on the powerplay and yank at the other teams goalie until he gets a goal or knocked down, nobody other than Gally can do it on a constant basis so that's why he's here so stop whining.
One year, minimum wage it's a no brainer.

He's 100% going to be on the Taxi squad unless Weal is the guy who's going on the Taxi squad, which would make sense because of his cap hit

Or be a guy that sits in the pressbox (taxi squad) rather than a young player that gets no playing time

Realistic possibility if you try and put him on the taxi squad he gets claimed

Then he gets claimed. He was sitting in FA for 4~ months and signed for the league minimum. If somebody else wanted him, they could've signed him. Not a major loss regardless

The Habs had one of the worst UFA summer's....all the cap space and they wasted on losers. J. Anderson, Tollofi, Edmondson, Allen, Frolik and Perry. 19 million and that's who they spend it on.

I mean I don't agree that all of those signings/trades made sense, but all of the guys you listed save for Anderson (who I think is the best player of the bunch long-term) have won a cup. So they are anything but losers. Maybe you have something more astute to offer in critique? Being losers ain't it.

Well burying Weal was a given even before we knew the taxi squad existed.
