Probably not. Hard to go from 1 year of QMJHL then jump into the NHL, let alone not really playing much competitive hockey for almost a year.

I don't disagree but in theory his game should translate better than most and his size has been NHL ready for a while

I think he should get a chance. Id put him next to Malkin or Crosby though. Hes got the size where he won't be pushed around and IMO talent should play with talent. He could really excel.

Would’ve made any team but Canada, not like he missed out to a later round pick. He was also one of the last cuts

At this point I don't think the question is if Poulin should play.
It's are there any reasons Ceci is playing over Maniscalco and should OConnor be the guy who replaces ZAR if he's out.

Lmfao it WJ not the olympics..... I don’t see how anything you said changes my point. He wasn’t good enough to make Canada’s WJ team.... doubt he’s ready for NHL.

Penguins could use him on the Taxi squad but I would find an actual NHLer to use for the actual NHL team.

"actual NHLer" are harder to find to play 3rd line than you are giving them credit for. As of now the penguins have 1 3rd line player in McCann possibly 2 in Tanev. But that is it.
It's not like out playing ERod or Sceviour is some huge hurdle to over come.
It's these hell bent attitudes that prevent younger guys from getting their chance even though there is a mountain of evidence that they can make an impact.

okay you are n intelligent poster and i say that with sincerity. Mcmichaels is a lot better than Poulin. Mcmichael wont make the NHL this year and he should be in consideration over Sheary and Sprong. You dont/ need to rush young guys into the league. look at KK hughes patrick even guys like Cozen. why rush a player thats not ready into the league? i mean Protas is in the KHL this year bc of stupid junior rules and thats more beneficial imo

You ever seen that movie Gattaca? Where the two brothers are swimming in the ocean. And the one brother is like, I don't know how you made it and the Ethan Hawk dude is like, "I didn't save anything for the trip back"
Well that's basically the penguins at this moment. What the hell they got to save for? Their stars are 33 and 34 years old. They ain't got forever. They got a prospect with more talent than anything else they got on that roster in that bottom 6. To not play them is simply not pushing all the chips in.

man I can't believe he left boston.
They had an article on him not long ago about opening a real estate office and how he was closing multi million dollar deals.
Just for perspective. A real estate agent can get 5-7% of closing.
on one 5 million dollar deal at 5% he would rake in 250k. The dude was cashing in on his name there closing some large deals so it said.
So I don't get why we would up and leave for 800k
