1 top 6 c and 2 top 4 d- what was needed

Created by: Wpgman
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 28, 2020
Published: Dec. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
When last season was over, it was in agreement with most that Winnipeg need a 2C and it was filled with Stastny. Although not long term but Stastny will fill that void. Also 2 top4 d was needed. I am not convinced DeMelo is top 4 but hope I am wrong. Just in case signing Vatenan and Hamonic will solidify the d this year and make Winnipeg a serious contender.
I think the only question would be what to do with Roslovic. He needs a change in scenery so I believe Zacha would fill the 3C spot quite well. Not necessarily getting rid of Perreault but his contract.

I have the same thread I'm working on of signing both Vatanen and Hamonic but haven't posted it yet.. Lol

So obviously I think it's a good idea if they'd sign, two guys who are closer to top 4 dmen then most of the Jets current D core aside from Morrissey and Pionk, I think they'd both cost a bit more though even at this point, another quarter mill for Hamonic I think and about half to three quarters of a mill for Vatanen is my guess but we'll see what they get soon enough wherever they land.

Personally I'd just keep Roslovic but I do think he's gone eventually and Zacha would be an alright return, really think the Jets need to keep adding centers, Perfetti is going to take longer to arrive then originally thought in my opinion.

So my question is why did Perfetti slip down to 10th? It seemed he was a lock around 5-7th. I haven't really heard any reasons why he made it to 10th.

Perfetti is going to be just fine as #2 C. You can see the talent at the WJC, how he reads the ice and handles the puck without panicking. He just needs to get bigger and stronger. Do you remember a young kids drafted called Schiefele? Do you remember the Bambi legs? If you touched him how he fell over! And how did Schiefele turn out? Let’s just give him a few years. If he played his 1st year as a 20 or 21 year old I am fine with it. His hockey IQ is apparently off the charts.

Who knows, it's hard to say, every single team has hits and misses every single draft year, I criticize the Jets drafting sometimes but maybe it's all just luck idk, I mean even Tampa picked guys before they selected Point and Cirelli that haven't amounted to much so are they the masters at drafting or just a bit lucky.

As for Perfetti to me he looks like he for sure isn't NHL ready this year and even next year seems unlikely to me and really he could just flop out.
I can see some teams being concerned about his skating, he looks a little awkward to me. Also I do think some teams ahead of the Jets really drafted for need, Buffalo and NJ really needed wingers and are kind of set at center so I think thats at least one reason they selected the guys they did over Perfetti.
I know I'll get roasted for even suggesting such a thing but really who knows what he'll become at this point, I'm just trying to keep my expectations realistic for an 18 year old, I know I'm supposed to be excited about the shiny new toy but I'm a realist.. Lol

Having said that I really really hope I'm wrong and Perfetti is ready sooner then I think but whether he is or isn't I still think they should keep Roslovic and develop him at center AND I think they need to keep adding centers whether through drafting, trades or whatever, basically planning solely on Perfetti being the much needed 2C would be really shortsighted at this point with where the Jets are at.

I hate to say it but does he have to check his attitude before he enters the big boy rink? I am hoping that is just a maturity thing

Lol everyone needs to settle down on Cole. He is doing just fine. Pretty good, actually. To take that much stock out of his WJC performance isn’t a tell on how good he is going to be. I mean Nathan Mackinnon got 1 point at the WJC while Gabriel Bourque got like 10. Brayden point was the 13th forward for Canada at the 2015 WJC, while Nic Petan was among the leaders in tournament scoring. Not going to say it doesn’t mean anything but to imply that it’s all that matters is a joke
