Luke Hughes>

It’s very close though

No it's not. Power is far better. Hughes will go around #5 or #6. Power will be gone well before then

"Tank" yet the Rangers just won the lottery with the 12th best odds. The Hawks suck already. Making them worse isn't gonna do anything

hawks pass, and honestly WPG is better off trading like a 4th for dehaan who naturally plays the left side.

We don't want or need his contract next year is the thing

I'm assuming that Janmark deal is more of a "whoever will take him" thing, because the absolute last thing in the world the Jackets need is more bottom-6 depth forwards.

What would Hawks fans think a 50% retained
Da Haan is worth?

We wouldn't retain that much, not a chance. Hawks are already using 2 retention slots and the 3rd is the last one. We are going to want more then a 3rd to use that last spot to move De Haan when we could easily expose him to Seattle and they would likely pick him up. De Haan, when healthy, is a very strong defender.

Fair point about the retention slots, didn't realize that.

I compared him to Buff, because Murphy is a very big physical defensemen just like Buff, Murphy is definitely better than Demelo and better in some areas than Pionk

Alright, fair enough. Still wouldn't pay a first for him, but I can see what your saying physically yeah. Tbh were more looking for a stopgap LD, which is where DeHaan could work better (as others have mentioned).
