The Kassian one I can agree on, it’s more personal preference. However, Russell is a awful NHL player and that’s the simple reality. His analytics are horrible, his breakout is awful and quite frankly his only “utility” is a liability.

My bad on the Russell on the second pair. Chiasson and Puljujarvi are fringe NHLers but at least Chiasson has some use on the PP.

I am not a fan of Russell, but I do think he offers some on-ice value if he is deployed as a 5-6 d-man, where he is less likely to be exposed to higher end opposition.

Neither Chiasson nor Puljujarvi have lived up to expectations that were established for them when they were drafted. However, it seems inaccurate to state both are fringe NHL players. Chiasson has a Stanley Cup ring and has proven to be a strong role player wherever he has played. Although he did not repeat his 20-goal performance, he still made very positive contributions last season and he is exactly the kind of player that is needed for the kind of season we are about to watch unfold. Puljujarvi has already proven himself capable of being a decent NHL 3rd line forward. Time will tell whether he can become a solid top six player.

Puljujarvi hasn't proven anything at the NHL level. I think he's earned a shot but I can't say with any confidence that he's better for the team than someone like Archibald, who can kill penalties or Chiasson who can score on the PP.
