What on earth is? These trade values are all terribly unbalanced.

The Buffalo trade is horrible for Ottawa. I like Peterka, but he's not worth Jarventie AND Greig, both of whom were drafted before him. Samuelsson is fine, but not worth Zub and Thomson.

The Rangers deal is also horrible for Ottawa. Dadonov is a 1st liner on a great bargain deal, and you're treating him like a cap dump, retaining 2mil and getting a 3rd and thug 4th liner who isn't very good.

The Florida deal is really bad, but this time for Florida. Zaitsev is a truly terrible player, and even at 3mil he's not worth close to a 2nd. Probably not even worth Carter Verhaeghe.

The last deal also makes sense. Gunler is a great prospect, but he's not worth a cost controlled middle six forward a 1st and a 2nd. It's straight up ridiculous.

the value is probably fine, its not like they are giving up nothing. Peterka is a hot name now because of the tournament. Rather keep peterka. Also seems strange that we would be trading for more left wings and rhd, the last two things we need. I suppose you could make the point that three of the sens guys are prospects and those positions might be needed by the time they are ready, but I agree, buffalo keeps their guys.

Carolina doesn't have the cap space for White, and they are CERTAINLY not giving up Gunler for the displeasure of taking on that 4.75 mil for the next 4 years. No thanks

I really do not like trading prospects without knowing more about them or watching them perform.
I am not in the position to evaluate Junior age hockey players, this sure appears to favor the Sabres IMO.
2020 draft 33rd OA Roby Jarventie for 34th OA John Peterka.
I know John is tearing it up in the WJC, but from the scouting reports this is a close choice either way.
That leaves Ridly Greig (28th OA 2020 draft), Lassi Thomson (19th OA 2019 draft) and free agent Artem Zub for Mattias Samuelsson (32nd OA 2018 draft).
While the talent is not fill the Sabre needs, Buffalo needs to add more talent and this trade would do that.

Another way to view this is Buffalo is trading 34th OA John Peterka for 28th OA and 33rd OA (Ridly Greig and Roby Jarventie).
Samuelsson for Zub and Thomson (19 OA 2019 draft).

Maybe Peterka is that good, but they are prospects and I do not know.

Please do your best to convince me that I am wrong.

While they’re all still young developing talent,
Peterka looks to be the best

Just bc guys were drafted near each other doesn’t mean they pall turn out the same way

Peterka looks to be our best prospect after Cozens
I’m not moving him for multiple “ok” pieces,
it would have to be something high end

Peterka is certainly making his presence known in the WJHC.
While I was disappointed taking Quinn over Rossi, Peterka and Costantini were great picks IMO.
I was shocked that Peterka was still available in the second round and Costanini is from St. Catharines, ONT.
OK, let's call the whole thing off, who knows who will be better when they all have time to grow.

EDIT:
Imagine if we had walked away from this draft with both Rossi and Peterka.

I wanted Rossi too,
but the Sabres chose a scoring winger over a guy that would be slotted behind Jack & Cozens
Understandable imo

Ottawa was reported to be considering Quinn at pick5,
so he’s close enough in talent for me to not be upset about not choosing Rossi

Let's dream a little here:
Jeff Jack Tage
Taylor Dylan Peterka
Victor Rossi Sam
Casey Arttu Curtis

It appears you are 100% correct do not trade Peterka.
I know Casey will most likely not be a fourth line player but that line up looks awesome.
Having Rossi slip to the 8th spot was a dream.
I imagine Guerin peed his pants when Kevyn announced his pick was Jack Quinn.

I have said before centers can make wingers look good.
Tavares and Moulson, Crosby and Sheary, Jack and Jeff or Sam or Victor or who ever, Thornton and Cheechoo and many more.
It appears that Rossi has that skill also.
I do not know if he and Quinn played on the same line for Ottawa 67's, but Quinn only has one goal in the World Junior U-20 Championships.

Let me add, Buffalo does not have the talent depth to be drafting to fill a need, they need to draft the best player available at the time Rossi and Peterka.

Finally, 2 of the top 4 WJHC scorers are Buffalo prospects.
That is really cool.

Anything that puts Tage in the top6 makes me stop reading right there
He’s a guy who has looked HORRIBLE in the NHL,
and I’m absolutely not willing to project him as a top6 guy until i see him actually play well up here
Same with Mitts

Also, about Rossi, I DON’T GIVE A FUDGE
Sorry this is being directed at you specifically,
but I’m sick of all the ****ing & whining from everyone about this guy
We didn’t pick him
It’s time to accept that & move on

Quick fix to your lineup to make it still look really good:
Mitts or Ruotsalainen at 3C
Quinn & Sam as the RWs in the top6

Or even bring in a good defensive Vet for 3C at some point
I don’t think it’s a big worry
