White’s worth more than that, and I reckon Tkachuk will probably ask for at least 8 for max term. If you take out Murphy and run JBD or Zaitsev at 2RD you have enough to give Tkachuk more, plus bridge Batherson and Brannstrom for more, which might buy you an extra year. I would love to sign Barkov and Parayko if they decide to test the market though, Barkov pushes everyone into an acceptable spot up the middle and Parayko would be a perfect partner to Chabot.

If we’re aggressive in free agency like this, I think it’s more likely that we fire Zaitsev’s last two years to the moon, we have the assets to hitch him to in order to dump him (1-2 of Abramov/Balcers/Jaros/Lajoie + Tampa’s 2022 2nd should be enough).

because they are the best rebuilding team right now and will be primed for a run right when those guys expire.

(also, a DET fan taking a shot at literally any other team in the league right now? Really? Worst team by a long shot)

Because they are a good up and coming team. By this season they should be a lock for the playoffs. Unlike the redwings, who are worse than most ahl teams. Don't trash talk teams that are better than yours dude.
