We need Kerfoot more than we need the cap. Nylander is interesting but he is of no use this season.

Sorry to chime in here but the Leafs absolutely need cap space if they want to add at the deadline. Currently they are operating at 1.05 Mil above the cap with 0 cap space at the deadline. I know the Leafs will move players to the Taxi Squad to open up a bit of space but not enough to add at the deadline. However moving Kerfoot now gives them 1.5 Mil now and about 5 Mil at the deadline. They could add say Taylor Hall then if the Sabres retain half and are out of the picture.

ok sure but our C depth is f**ked by this. We can't afford to just give away our 3C (and its only 2M in cap space this has us retaining 1.5M for the next like 3 years

Yeah, the Leafs for sure can't lose a center but I was assuming centers would be Matthews, Tavares, Thorton, Spezza not great but passable IMO. I also understood that Leafs fans wanted Kerfoot gone anyway. As for the retention I missed that part lol, ypu are absolutely right the Leafs wouldn't and probably couldn't make the trade if they had to retain.

Edit I meant the 3 and 4C wasn't great

They don't need Taylor Hall. And there are other ways to make space.

Hall was just an example, I know the Leafs would like to upgrade the RHD more than getting another winger.

Every non leaf fan on this site, "the Leafs need to upgrade their D!" Leafs sign Brodie a legit top pair RD. "Leafs are desperate to upgrade their RD!". Their roster is set and nothing is needed now. We'll see how the season unfolds.

I didn't say desperate, I said would like to. BTW no team is set, if a trade comes along like say for Manson, does that mean the Leafs pass? No, they explore it. Brodie is a top pairing RHD no one said he wasn't. All I said was the Leafs want to upgrade the RHD Holl an Bogosian are not bad as 2 RHD but should be more like a 3 RHD. I wasn't bashing the Leafs just suggesting that having 4-6 Mil at the deadline would be beneficial in case of injury or to add for a playoff run.

Holl had a very good season alongside Muzzin playing against the oppositions best every night with mainly defensive zone starts. If he is exactly that the Leafs top 4 is solid and potentially fantastic if Rielly bounces back, and considering he will have a good partner for the first time in his career I'd say health permitting he could be in the Norris conversation again. Having Dermott/Lehtonen/Bogosian riding the 3rd pair has the potential to he excellent as well. Dermott has been way above average as a 3rd pair guy so far in his career and Lehtonen was the best defenceman outside the NHL the past 2 years. Bogosian played good minutes on the way to a cup in Tampa. Manson legit sucks

1. You could put Edmundson beside Muzzin and he would look very good. Muzzin is a lot like Petry, he makes players around him look better.

2. Reilly should have a bounce back year (hopefully, I like him)

3. I like Lehtonen as well I think he could actually move up the lineup easily. If he can play the right side then even better as Holl can move back and the D will be that much better. If not he can move up in an injury scenario, win win.

4. Having Dermott as a 7th D means that the LHD is really solid. And like I said before Bogosian is a great 3 RHD.

5. I only said Manson cause a ton of Leafs ACGM's were trading for him like 2 weeks ago. Manson is not crap but if that is your view of him then you could put whoever you want there. The point is no team is ever so happy with their lineup that they stop looking for upgrades.

Dermott is just better than Bogosian, Bogosian is the 7th d. Manson hasn't been good for 2 full seasons. To think Anaheim paid a first so Vegas would take Theodore instead of him.

Either way having one of the 2 as a 7th D man is great.

Manson IMO is still good he just is not being deployed right in Anaheim. Also Anaheim as a whole has had a hard time scoring over the last 2 seasons. Outside of Henrique and Silfverberg no other player has 20 goals in either of the last 2 seasons. Kind of hard to put up points as an offensive defenseman if the forwards can't finish.

yea no I know what you're saying. I don't think fans have a problem with Kerfoot, but at the same time wouldn't be opposed to trading him if something better came across the table. I would just need to be sure that we are bringing in another center

Who says they need or want to add at deadline? Also Kerfoot move would **** up center depth and you would have to rely on one of Spezza/Thornton to be your 3C which I would not like to do under any circumstances with exception of maybe when someone is injured and you HAVE to do it. Leafs dont need Hall from Sabres.. they have 2 halls on each of first two lines.
