With three ones Cheveldayoff calls the league office before Bergevin hangs up so he doesn’t change his mind

I wouldn't call it a massive overpay. The only pieces worth anything are the 3 firsts.

3 1’s are an overpay even if you have to take Drouin

I mean Drouin he’s not a player comparable to laine but I have trouble seeing how the difference between them is three ones

It's not so much the value, it's team needs. This would just be a massive wing downgrade and some futures, so definitely not anything Winnipeg would consider now. 2 or 3 years from now, if Laine isn't signed long term, maybe the Jets look at it. Right now, it isn't anything the Jets would consider.

lol no

with Laine MTL's team is stupidly deep.. none on those picks would be under 20th.. where players projected ceilings r "bottom/middle 6" and '3rd pairing"..... if they don't bust
of course future elite players could get picked up there, like Chabot and Pasta.. but what r the odds? pretty close to zero

I agree. Most fans really, really, really over estimate the value of draft picks. If the Jets got super lucky maybe one of those picks turns out to be half as good as Laine is now.

Exactly, looking at the last 10 years players picked at that range.. how many succeeded at the NHL level and had decent nhl careers

I'm surprised he managed to title the ACGM something other than GO HABS GO tbh. I don't think WInnipeg is really interested in picks right now, especially when trading a great young player like Laine, but the value is pretty good.

With the possible exception of Gabriel Landeskog and I still don’t think so is there anybody in the draft you take over Kucherov now

My opinion if your a Gm and get 3 1’s and get 3rd liners your scouting staff isn’t very good

my option is if u get three 1sts at 20-31 range and they all become 3rd line comparable players u've done a very good job

(2020 could be any exception cause its pretty deep like the 2015 but with the next 3 years.. doubtful)

One needs to be a top six definitely or at least the top four defenseman
