Dubois trade read description

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 31, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Disclaimer: This entire thing is unlikely to happen. I would just like to see if it’s possible. Hope you enjoy!

Lineup:
First Line: Panarin-Zibanejad-Kakko
This line would be absolute filth. With Panarin’s goal scoring + playmaking ability, Zibanejad sniping goalies, and Kakko finishing down low, this line would be insane.

Second Line: Lafreniere-Dubois-Gauthier (The French Connection)
Lafreniere playing with a center like PLD would do wonders for his development. With those two and a guy like Gauthier who is pretty much Chris Kreider 2.0, this would be another nasty line.

Third Line: PDG-Chytil-Kreider
Phillip Di Giuseppe is one of those guys who may not score a lot of goals, but is one of the best players on your team. He digs deep into the corners, forechecks like crazy, and is a really good PK guy. He looked great during the series vs Carolina last year and could mesh well with the other two. Chytil has a good 2 way game, he is just young and still developing. Kreider can provide his speed and forechecking abilities. This is a solid 3rd line.

Fourth Line: Lemieux-Howden-Rooney
Man oh man, this is pretty much PK1. This line would only see around 8-10 minutes per night, but I think they would score a lot more goals than people would imagine.

Pairing 1: Lindgren-Fox
Same pairing as last season. Both are extremely underrated and can keep up with some of the leagues best players.

Pairing 2: Miller-Trouba
Both of them are big guys who skate well and have good hockey IQ. Personally, I think K’Andre is ready for prime time and pairing him with Trouba will allow Trouba to focus more on his offensive game like he did in Winnipeg.

Pairing 3: Bitetto-DeAngelo (Sunday Dinner at Ma’s house)
Bitetto can be subbed in for a guy like Rykov or Reunanen, but I picked Bitetto due to his NHL experience.

Goalies
Shesterkin
Georgiev
Pretty self explanatory.

Once again, this is all far fetched and unrealistic, but wanted to create a sort of ‘what if’ scenario.

Additional Details:
Any team that needs a center
MIN
  1. Strome, Ryan
Additional Details:
Only way for this trade to work is if we shed some cap due to the bonus cushion. Strome is an obvious candidate due to him becoming our third line center in this scenario.

This entire thing is unlikely to happen. I would just like to see if it’s possible.
2.
NYR
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
CBJ
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
  3. Robertson, Matthew
  4. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Henriksson, Karl

Top 5 protected

Henriksson is one of our best prospects and would have dominated WJC if it weren’t for his COVID diagnosis.

Robertson is a future Top 4 defender and can be ready as early as next season (21-22)

Buch is a top 6 guy and I could see him easily having good chemistry with a guys like Atkinson and Domi.

Value may be a bit off but I can see these being building blocks.

I feel like Columbus would want Kravtsov over Buch

But is this value? Seems like the classic quality vs quantity debate.

That’s really really short on value.

I agree, but it would have to be Buch due to cap issues. I just think Buch would play well with Domi.

Yea that’s what I think too. That’s why in the trade description, I made sure to say that these would be the building blocks. It’s hard to gauge his value.

But this isn’t like, “ohhh well add a 2nd round pick here, and a prospect there.” PLD is a stud. There needs to be a legitimate high value piece going back. Buch, strome, and Deangelo aren’t even in the conversation. Unfortunately, I think the rangers pieces are either too high value or too low. You guys aren’t moving Laf, so this isn’t happening.

I just wanted to see what the roster would look like. I edited the trade and added Kravtsov. It’s probably still not enough. This entire scenario will never happen anyways.

Disclaimer: The PLD rumours are a tactic for his contract talks with Columbus.

But IF he got traded and IF it was to the Rangers, this wouldn't be it. The package is almost guaranteed to start with Kravtsov, Lundkvist, or Kakko. Chytil would almost 100% have to be included because the Jackets are likely to want a big centre in any kinda deal. Maybe Howden could be the centre in the deal, but likely only if Kakko was in the deal. Could also see a guy like DeAngelo possibly being in the deal if the Jackets are looking for more talent to win now. But I'd say if they look to move him now, they're likely looking at a rebuild.

I'd suggest:

New York Rangers
Pierre-Luc Dubois

Columbus Blue Jackets
Filip Chytil
Nils Lundkvist
2021 NYR 1st round pick (top 10 protected)
Brendan Smith (might be a cap dump but Jackets are getting more than enough to take him on for 1 season)

OR (if Columbus doesn't want to rebuild)

New York Rangers
Pierre-Luc Dubois

Columbus Blue Jackets
Anthony DeAngelo
Filip Chytil
2022 NYR 2nd round pick (conditional to a 1st - conditions can be whatever)
Yegor Rykov
