Boston is probably one of the worst destinations for soderberg you could pick.

Kane is worth more (though I don't think clb would trade him they need him), Toews is worth less if I know vgks prospects well (that's a blue chip and whatever is just below blue chip prospect right?)

Kane is still playing at near Hart level year in year out.

Toews had 2 or so years where he was playing like a 1b centre (a #1 c on a bad team or a #2 on a contender) then bounced back to a legit number 1 c this year. But in none of those years has he played like the hall of famer he was. He's still a very good player, but he is aging. If I were acquiring him I'd be kidding myself to think I'm getting 2012-2017 Toews. I'm getting 2020 Toews which is likely the last few years or even a little worse as he continues to age.

The only argument to increase his value is if one wants to argue Vegas needs that leader to take them over the top. But I'm not a guy who likes to pay for that sort of stuff as it's hard to truly quantify.

It’s probably steep for Toews, but he’s still a 60 point centre, normally good for 20-25 goals (last year 18 but the year before 35). The other thing to consider is that he’s normally 2nd or 3rd on team scoring. It’s not that he isn’t producing, but as a team the Hawks traditionally have had Kane with some crazy point total and then Toews at 60-70 points. On another team I think he could be a 70+ point guy depending on the system and minutes he sees. Steep, but Toews hasn’t fallen off a cliff yet. On Vegas I think he could liven up and chase one more cup.

For Vegas to accept I think we would need to take on MAF contract

Yeah for sure. As I said at his worse the last few years he's been a decent 1c. But he just isn't a franchise c anymore.

7 million for him is probably fair this year, and probably a tad high in 2-3 years.

The truth of the matter is I don't know how good those prospects are. If they're like blue chip like say Makar leading into last year vs just very good like say Hronek leading into him making the NHL it makes a big difference.

If they're just high end but not too 5-10 prior to the 2020 draft then perhaps it's steep but fair.

Vegas is clearly pushing really hard to get over the hump

I think we would also have to retain a 1-2 million on Toews

Further everyone can hope Toews defies aging like say Bergeron, but most likely he ages like other guys in Bergerons insane 2003 draft year like Getzlaf, E Staal, and Carter.

It doesn't appear he'll fall off a cliff in production like M Richards

(Man that draft was awesome. Also side note you really appreciate how much Bergeron is defying aging curves when you compare him to the other stud forwards from his draft year: Getzlaf, Parise, Perry, Carter, M Richards (for about 4 years), and more likely not coming to mind)

Neither a Vegas nor hawks fan so I'll defer to your knowledge for the fine details.

He does seem like the kind of guy theyd target.

I’m not moving Krebs and Tuch period personally; if we were to it would have to be for an elite 1C. Under 27.

Love Toews, but his best hockey is behind him.
