Why on earth do you think Minnesota would consider that?

Guerin would probably just laugh at that offer and then hang up.

Are you sure? He's basically a Chiarelli 2.0

Lol, Guerin has actually done a good job. He hasn't lost a single trade 100-0, won a majority of them (fleecing Pittsburgh on that Zucker-trade), and is the first GM in years that actually has a direction for us. I would rank him in the upper tier of GM: s in the league.

What on earth is the point of making a thread with moves you know have no chance of happening?

I disagree, but I will admit my previous comment was an over-exaggeration.

What Guerin has done has flown around the radar for many, so it's not uncommon to see people bashing him. But I think the only trades he lost were the Donato-trade (altough we weren't going to play him anyway) and the Staal-trade. Otherwise he has been amazing on the trade market. What comes to signing free agents, I think he did pretty decent this fall. He addressed what we needed and didn't over-do it. And he had a fantastic draft with Judd Brackett!

He didn't lose the Staal trade. It was never about getting the better center and icing the best possible team with the Staal trade. That trade is a win-win.

Well thanks to that Staal trade, they do not have a top 6 center.

Probably why you shouldn't voice your opinions when you don't know what you're talking about.

Exactly. Staal was one of the veterans that were too comfortable in their positions, and were not ready to put everything to the table in order to win. Guerin lost value-wise, yes, but as Joker said: "It's not about the money, it's about sending a message."

You literally said the Wild won that Staal trade. Clearly you do not know what you are talking about tight-ass... The Wild no longer have a top 6 center. The trade was pointless and every Wild fan I've spoken with agrees. Not sure how you justify that trade because it was terrible.

I don't think so. Trading Staal makes everyone on the team aware that there are new rules and new demands. It makes everybody be on the same page once again. If Guerin had traded a 4th-line bender it wouldn't have had a same reaction in the locker room.

Beyond sending a message, Staal had declined deadline deals in the past because he didn't want to leave. He has structured his NTC in such a way that he tried his hardest to put teams that would actually want him on the list so he had a better chance of not being moved. So in addition to getting rid of a veteran who treated this like a retirement home, and trying to start building a culture of hungry guys who wanted to win, he gave himself extra trade deadline flexibility.

It's not about being the best team this season, so the fact that we gave up the "better player" (it's debatable at this point) and don't have a real top 6 center doesn't matter at all.

At the cost of their only top 6 center? I can't imagine that being the only way to send that kind of message.

I've chosen @EccE for that. Not you, for the simple fact that I am not fond of you, like at all. Enjoy my ignore list.
