They have this season and the next one. Eichel won’t want to be traded until his NMC kicks in.

I just can’t imagine a scenario where the team entertains trading him. He’s not the problem. Other pieces would go first if they took steps backward. Reinhart would probably be a likely candidate.

Team will not trade him unless he asks for a trade. Trading eichel starts a full rebuild. Obviously they would try to trade other pieces and build around him and dahlin if given the choice.

Let’s just say the Sabres suck again & that does cause Eichel to ask out.... then MAYBE they consider moving him..... but even then, it’s still gonna take A TON to get him, reasons being:

1- he’s still under contract for 5years, so they wouldn’t have to be in a hurry & could wait for the offer they like

2- there would be so many teams bidding on him, that it would easily increase the cost to get him

It’s just speculation what they’d want from the Flames,
but in general it would be “A level” prospects & young players and 1st rounders
And it certainly wouldn’t be pieces like Gaudreau, who’s gonna need a new contract to prevent him from going UFA


Reasonable (imo) offer i saw from an Ottawa fan:
Brady Tkachuk, pick3, pick5, pick28 (all in the 1st of this past draft), and Ottawa would also send a Cap dump or 2 to help balance the $$$
