This year is so weird. He's a sieve defensively but he's literally top 20 in goal and point scoring for a winger over the last three years.

Any team that signs him long term will regret it. He's a cancer and the type of player that divides a locker room. He might put up goals, but no team will ever win anything with him on their roster.

He'll probably get in the 3.75-4 range for 1 year from the Blues.

That being said I will point out I hate the use of cancer here. Maybe it's touched me too much in life but locker room asshole works fine. Haha

It's no coincidence that Florida didn't re-sign him or that he went this long into FA without a contract for a 30 goal guy. His PR has done a great job of burying the story and NHL players never trash their teammates, but not a single former teammate has come to his defense over his character or said they want him to stick around. That's pretty telling to me.

The use of the word cancer doesn't need to be taken personally. It just means he poisons a locker room. So, substitute the word poisonous if it bothers you less.

It's probably a mix of personal history and frustration when it kept being used in Kessel (a cancer survivor) bothering me.
