Besides the obvious fact that offer sheets don't happen, this is the unlikeliest. Rangers would be screwed next season when their bonus money has to rollover since they can't pay it this season. Essentially taking $15M in cap space and turning it into $4.4M in cap space to sign guys like Chytil, Howden, Gauthier, Shesterkin, Lindgren, and not to mention need to fill out the rest of their roster.

This is just a dumb idea from the start.

I think that the only condition under which we would give you a 2021 fourth for Brendan Smith is if he brings your 2021 first with him.

That's too much, of course, but I don't see us paying more than a seventh for him. Remember what Nick Bjugstad returned?
