Holl is a 6-7 defence

Results prove he was an above average shutdown defender next to Muzzin. Calling him a 6-7 defenceman is just ignoring reality.

He's only a #4 because he's playing with Muzzin. Everyone knows that. Leafs fans never cease to amaze me...

I only replied to you because I have him on my ignore list lol

And? Next to Muzzin he was successful, not a hinderance at all. He was very good, definitely above average in a shutdown role. Faced incredibly tough competition and had positive numbers across the board. Barrie started next to Muzzin and was terrible.

he's a 5-6 that plays like a 4 with Muzzin.

he plays like a 4 without muzzin too, but a 4 cant do much when he's saddled with a 7th against tough competition

All I know is Leafs fans hated Holl after their series vs CBJ. They always need 1 player to blame. I guess they forget about that already... Makes sense.

Just jumping to the extreme because a couple of idiots pretending to be Leaf fans continued to throw Holl under the bus. No, not all leaf fans hated Holl. Anyone who isn't just a troll saw him as easily our 2nd best defender in the series after Rielly.

he's just mad that Holl is much better defensively than Doughty at 1/5th the cost and plays better with bad partners

That's a hot take, while Doughty is clearly no longer a top defenceman in the league, he's definitely still very good. He is on a brutal team. I'd be thrilled with Doughty next to Rielly at the right price probably around 5 million. Is Holl better? I doubt it but he's certainly better value. An effective top 4 (regardless of whatever anyone wants to say next to Muzzin he gets the job done) at 2 million is a terrific value contract. Doughty getting paid for what he did in his prime is just bad money.

Doughty is nowhere near a top defender in the league. His defensive impacts are bruuuuuutal, He cant defend against speed and he can only score on the power play. If he was a top defender he wouldnt look near as bad, or have as bad results on the red wings, he's just broken down now. Playing 30+ mins a game for 10 years does bad things to the human body and only freaks of nature stand up to it. It's not Drew's fault he doesnt have it anymore.
Holl is better defensively. Doughty could out score him, sure, and is a better transition passing defender (the one thing he remains very good at) but he bleeds shots and chances against in a way that would make Tyson Barrie blush.

I wasn't overly impressed with his play when he was with Dermott who I wouldn't call a "7th".

He's a 5/6 who's a 4 with Muzzin.

He was good with Dermott, he wasn't great with Marincin.

I didn't hate his performance. Leafs in general were pretty average though the whole series (as were Columbus). When the the game was tied, Leafs hit a cross bar and then later a post. Maybe if one of those two had gone in, maybe the Leafs win the series and all is happy in Leaf land.

Their defence is better thats for sure. Petry would be in any teams top 4

How can any objective person think the Canadians defence is better than the Leafs? Leafs allowed 2 more goals than the Habs last season. Take off your homer bias, and watch some games that don't just involve Montreal.

And the Leafs didn't add to their blue line? Their two worse Dmen from last year are gone....Barrie and Ceci. Brodie, KHL best Dman Lehoten and Bogosian added. Again it would be beneficial to know more than one team.

Sorry you bias shows through so much in your writing. You just don't acknowledge facts. You're an easy ignore.
