Description
Honestly couldnt make more sense for the Bruins to trade for PLD. Would help now, and obviously down the line when Bergy and Krejci decline/retire.

Ya but it makes no sense for CBJ to move him. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Boston inquired as did many other teams before he signed, there is no traction or substance to it. Just a cursory inquire to see what it would it take if.

He’s signed now. CBJ does not have to move him nor does PLD have any leverage to force a trade.

Highly unlikely he gets moved and if he does Montreal will likely end up with him.

PLD pouted when put on wing in Columbus. Maybe he would be ok with it for a year in Boston, but 2nd line LW is not going to make him any happier here than he is there.

I was just about to make this exact same trade, but i was deciding on an additional prospect to add. Maybe Curtis hall? Maybe a 2nd? I think it needs more.

I just think PLD to pick destination isn’t going to happen.

All he has to do if he really wants out is say he won't play for them. Then the leverage is completely in his court. Players have more leverage than the average fan thinks

He’s signed. What’s he gonna do, tank on the ice? Nobody would trade for someone who did. Sit out? Sue him for breech of contract. Any action he takes other requesting a trade brings down his value and CBJs willingness to move him because of it.

He could certainly just stay the two years in CBJ and then ask to be traded after, but I think Jarmo is smarter than that. Trade him when he doesnt have the leverage cause it seems inevitable he requests for a trade in 2 years.
As for playing LW, would probably just be a year experiement. Would be a perfect, big strong LW for Krejci (that has skill unlike Ritchie etc) and if he doesnt look great, next year you might have Krejc 3C, Coyle at wing. Lot of different options

Maybe Kuhlman or something. Decent player, scrappy. Torts would like him. Debrusk averages more GPG and only 7 less PPG in their respective careers so dont think theres as big of a gap between the two as some may think

He’s an RFA still in 2 years. Sure he can not sign and sit out. CBJ still has control though. And if he goes out and puts up 30 goal pace seasons his value increases even more. Only way they move him now is if the get an offer they can’t refuse. Considering their desperate need of center without PLD...they can refuse this easily enough. Value is there. Need is not. Replace Vaak with Studnicka you might get their attention.

Kuhlman is nothing.

I’m high on debrusk. Much higher than most. I’m super high on PLD.

Patrick Roy - " I am never playing for your franchise again" - traded within a few days.

Bottom line, if he really wants out, the player always has the leverage. He won't care about money or anything.

I don't think DeBrusk is enough of a main piece to get PLD, but Vaakanainen is the right prospect to add. I'd suggest a swap of Savard for Carlo, with some of Savard's contract retained. It's just one season, but the swap puts Boston too close to the ceiling, and they would need a little breathing room included.

Trading a forward to get a very good forward isn't going to help CBJ, they need to improve somewhere else, as in the defence. I know Boston fans love Carlo, but they are getting the best player here, by far.

There's a little bit more to that situation in Montreal. You have to understand the Montreal Canadiens mentality. After the incident on the bench, the Habs wanted to get rid of Roy as much as he wanted out.

Puju the giraffe. How did it work for him? We can play this game all day.

Never know how that would have played out. Was it an idle threat in the heat of the moment? Who knows. There were issues between Roy and Tremblay before he even became coach. The org was ripped for not trying to fix the problem and the team has been irrelevant since that trade. So was it a good move. Roy was also in the last year of his contract that changes the dynamics completely. Huge difference between a 22 year old the team has control over for 5 years minimum and a vet in his final year as far as leverage goes. If you don’t understand that, well....🤷🏻‍♂️

Puljujarvi required new management for him to come back. So unless you're suggesting Columbus rework theirs, the situation is different.

"#CBJ coach John Tortorella says Pierre-Luc Dubois’ desire for a trade will be handled similarly, in one respect, to how Bobrovsky / Panarin played out two seasons ago. They’ll confront it as a group and deal with it out in the open, he said."

If they arent competitive, he could get moved. Obviously they wont force a move because they dont have to. But if they get an offer they like, they may take it

That and he had no other options. His run off to Europe tantrum did not get him traded did it. No leverage will do that.

Yes but Bob and Panarin were in the final year of their contract. And should have been traded. PLD is under team control for at least 5 more years. Big difference.
