Ok but now he wants out. He signed his contract for trade value. By hold him captive I meant what Winnipeg did with Trouba. He wanted a trade and they wouldn’t facilitate

There's just no possible way he gets traded. I don't see how CBJ will ever get fair value. He's a number one Center in the making and guys like that don't grow on trees.

That’s what I said. They hold him captive like Trouba

Isn't the same for any person in any company. A person wants "out" of a department but that doesn't mean he necessarily gets transferred. The only other out alternative is to quit that company and join another one.....in this case for PLD could have go to another league. Sorry, his collective agreement dictates player movement.

Yeah i mean he can make a stink all he wants. but thats part of being a pro in the NHL. You cannot really dictate early on in your career where you want to go like you can in NFL, NBA, MLB etc. Even NFL has franchise tags that keep players where they might not want to be (lev Bell). If he wont touch the same echelon of money in other leagues that he would make here even if he signed discounted contracts.

Toronto's cut their roster down and all teams are going to do the same:

So out of the people put on waivers, I’d say the most interesting are:

Perry
Frolík
Khaira
Kylington
Ryan
Perreault
Johnson

Perreault & Johnson are likely paper transactions with LTIR in mind. Ryan is interesting, but he likely won’t get claimed and will be CGY’s 13th forward. Kharia might not get picked because of his salary. Kylington is crazy. He’s a good young defenseman on a contract close to league minimum. Anyone who has roster space should jump on him immediately. Frolík is interesting, but I don’t think he’ll get claimed because of how long he was a UFA. Perry is probably going to get claimed which makes this whole process of signing him so weird. I feel like there were likely other offers on the table for Perry, but he chose to play for his favourite team growing up. Which makes it suck that he’s likely going to a random other team.

*please don’t claim Juulsen, please don’t claim Juulsen* 🤞

Also the fact that there’s no Frolík or Perry here is a bad omen for Evans. Although at least 1 person is going to have to be put on waivers tomorrow.

So much for that we'll miss him he was decent

I don't think Frolik belongs on that list, but I doubt Perry makes it through.

Just like last year, there's a lot of names on here that shouldn't be. You could make an entire bottom-six with some of these players!

Nygard-Ryan-Brooks
Balcers-Merkley-MacEachern
Chlapik-Suomela-Sikura

Seriously, I'd take any of those players on my 4th line any day of the week.

So apparently Evander Kane has spent all of his $53 million in career earnings (subtracting taxes of course) in addition to being $27 million in debt? How on earth can that possibly happen?

(Although if this is explained in the article I’m not able to see, since I don’t have a subscription to the athletic.)

So um, the Sharks may have a way out of the Evander Kane deal. Contract termination, the $49M clears his debt and he resigns for league minimum. Or he could just be dog sh*t this year. I guess we’ll see. Interesting to see how this will unfold

Kane has a serious gambling problem, according to the WaPo. Why the Sharks ever gave him that massive contract will always be a great mystery to me. I hope he gets the financial and behavioral help he needs and has needed for many years.

Big props to Nolan Patrick for getting healthy. He looks ready to go. Could be a huge boost for PHI.

booger sugar and gambling. He also owed alot in house purchases etc. Financial literacy should be mandatory for every single professional athlete if not every single person in the world. Simple stuff like taxes, interest, major purchases etc.

Neither did Caufield. Not much of a dig when the other guy ended up with the same outcome.

Caufield didn't even go to training camp. He's still in college. Robertson making the team was Leafs fans biggest claim in their argument.

So does this mean Matthews has to change his number from 34 to 40.25 then?

Also the NHL screws over the Leafs by getting rid of $17,250 of their cap space. 😜

So Dallas currently only has 12 healthy players that player any games in the playoffs last year.

Also if they don’t get any players back before they start playing, they would have at least 6 players making their NHL debuts in the first game.

i mean both players are 19 and 20 respectively... who cares let them develop. worst thing you can do to a prospect is bring them up too early and stunt their growth. 2nd worst thing is bringing them up too late.

edit: just adding my two cents to the table here. wasnt directed at you.
