Description
I’m going to explain the first line to everyone. Thornton is an amazing playmaker, and he is still that even at his age. Him playing with Matthews in marner for the entire game will not work obviously he will likely play 14 to 15 minutes a night and someone else will fill in the rest. If they do this Joe Thornton will be very effective and could pick up quite a bit of points, marner may potentially attach a goal scoring touch to his game he has said he would like to improve that. The second line is interesting, and I have to be honest I did not expect it at all. There are three goal scores on this line and I think it would be a very good offence of line for sure. The third line of Mikheyev kerfoot and Hyman is a very good third line 1st and second liner plus a good third line centre, this would be a very good two way, annoying, and chippy line, I love it. The fourth line is what it is, not a big deal. The d pairings are what they are, and it’s pretty much what I’ve expected. Lehtonen will definitely get some games, but this is what they’re trying now. Of course, this could all change, but I love it.

No player enjoys inconsistent line-mates. You want a line of three you can roll together with all night.

I think this team will do well until they have to cross the border.

They’re not gonna do this every game

No better way to slow down Matthews' line than to put Thornton on it.
Thanks.

Sounds good to me, we'll just have the playoffs in Canada again.

Doesn't effect the speed Matthews plays with. Under Keefe they have a different style than the North South game under Babs. Thorton would be fine and really he isn't exactly slow he just has no acceleration anymore. Same with Spezza, it takes a while to pick up speed but once they are at a full clip they can cover space. With that in mind, in their system, Spezza often takes the puck up ice but it happens after he goes behind his own net and then picks up speed before a defenceman passes it off when he's at full speed. Thorton may so similar things but more than likely, the team will circle back and wait for Matthews, Marner, Brodie, or Rielly to enter the zone with possession and start a cycle which is how Keefe likes them to play. Hold onto the puck and wait for opportunities. Once they are down low, Thorton is still very effective.

Personally I'd sooner see Nylander with them since he's a better goal scorer and then Marner can be the main setup guy for JT and whoever plays on that line.

Thorton wont slow him down, being one of the best passers in the NHL thorton will drive play allowing for Matthews and Marner to have better opportunities to score.
