There’s a lot of Red Wings fans that have Berggren penciled in as a top 6 contributor down the road, so we aren’t likely to move him (or take on the McDonagh deal).

It’s taking mcdonagh for the leadership and I know how good berggren is but mcdonaghs contract ends at about when detriot will start being competitive so it won’t hurt them and berggren may value is about a first so I could prolly add a second for the mcdonagh cap dump

You wouldn’t give a first to get mcdavid help? Most people say palat isn’t worth a first because of his contract but this is next year so there’s only 1 year left on it making it not a problem

He’s not worth a first. We have help for McDavid. Just gotta see how they do. If they want cap, they need to pay us not the other way around.

This is all irrelevant. The chances of any of them waiving their clauses to go to those destinations are slim to none. TJ to Seattle is the only one with a snowballs chance in Texas of happening.

Also, Detroit is not taking on that contract, let alone giving up a high end prospect.

Easy pass for the oilers. Not into moving out firsts unless very significant upgrade and this is questionable of being an upgrade at all.

Oh yea, all those NTCs waive their trading rights just to leave a great situation in Tampa, so a CF fan can make his team cap compliant?shakes head

So you’re telling me gourde won’t waive to go play for his favourtie team in his home town where all his friends and family are? And Johnson won’t waive to do the same but for the new team in his home city? And who wouldn’t want to be mcdavid or drais winger for a season
And I could send mcdonagh to the wild becuase once again who wouldn’t want to play in their home town

McDavid already has Nugent-Hopkins or Kahun at LW, with high-end prospects Holloway and Savoie matriculating. They aren't giving up a 1st for a 30-year-old who has just 36 goals over the last 3 years.

Um... Nygard is likely on the taxi squad this year. Not a very high bar to clear.

I already responded as to why they waive and their is supposed to be another second added on to the mcdonagh trade, mcdonagh adds leader ship to a rebuilding team, aswell as his contract ends before detriot is competitive again, and berrgrens value is between a late first and mid second so the two picks combine for the cap dump and acquiring berggren

Kahun is playing with drai and nudge is only one side, and there’s no way Holloway or savoie are ready to play with mcdavid next year, and palat isn’t primarily a goal scorer but can in clutch situations I.E every playoffs he’s been in

I remember Vincent Lecavalier flat out refusing too.
Steven Stamkos was offered $2 million more to go home and he came back and asked for the best contract he could get here and signed it immediately.
Marty St.Louis demanded a trade and wouldn’t to go home to Montreal. There are 3 players as example.

Over who? You're comparing Palat to the Oilers taxi squad, that's silly - of course he's an upgrade over those guys. They don't need to spend $5.3M and a 1st to upgrade the taxi squad. Realistically Palat is fighting Nuge and Kahun for a top-6 LW job, he's not an upgrade over either guy.

So... the Oilers should spend a 1st to upgrade their 3rd line LW? That's not happening. Palat isn't supplanting Nuge or Kahun. My point about the prospects was to show that LW is one of the strongest positions in the Oilers organization, they aren't spending a 1st to address a need that doesn't exist.

Maybe the guy who plays on the wing of Say point and Kucherov or Point and Stamkos who gets to live in Tampa instead of Edmonton ( no disrespect to the city of Edmonton) but where would you rather be in February?
