I remember Vincent Lecavalier flat out refusing too.
Steven Stamkos was offered $2 million more to go home and he came back and asked for the best contract he could get here and signed it immediately.
Marty St.Louis demanded a trade and wouldn’t to go home to Montreal. There are 3 players as example.

Stamkos had the choice of signing with the team that lost in the final or the team that had just had the worst record in the leauge aswell as state tax, stlouis demanded a trade to new York so he could be with his mom who was dying from cancer, and I dunno what happened with lecavlier

Over who? You're comparing Palat to the Oilers taxi squad, that's silly - of course he's an upgrade over those guys. They don't need to spend $5.3M and a 1st to upgrade the taxi squad. Realistically Palat is fighting Nuge and Kahun for a top-6 LW job, he's not an upgrade over either guy.

Palat is 100% an upgrade over kahun but he’s not fighting with kahun or RNH those guys play with drai, and nygard and other taxi squad level guys are who have been mcdavids wings throughout his career

Maybe the guy who plays on the wing of Say point and Kucherov or Point and Stamkos who gets to live in Tampa instead of Edmonton ( no disrespect to the city of Edmonton) but where would you rather be in February?

When kuch comes back palat plays with cirelli and killorn

It was St. Louis it was only for his dying mom which is part of it why did he ask Brian Lawton to be traded only to the Rangers when he was the lightning GM

Why is Koekkoek getting 2.5 for two years. He's done nothing to warrant that money. If you're gonna bring him back its gotta be 1.3 or less. Rutta was instantly more effective than Slats.
Also, Gourde probably least likely to waive. He has a family and a life well entrenched in Tampa.

Koekoe has put up way better stats and analytics through this career here and their than rutta

You bring up the one in 10 billion example please come on man and Stamkos that wasn’t the reason he didn’t wanna go he said why he didn’t want to go to Toronto he just wanted to be a hockey player he didn’t want his whole life turned upside down every little thing he does do in Toronto would be under a microscope here he can sit out a restaurant and not be bothered that’s why he stayed here

you looking at quality of comp too? Koekkoek was more sheltered than Sergachev and struggled to play Cooper's system. He got moved because he stalled. Rutta plays the way Tampa wants to play,

My point was every cancer is diffrent so how should you know how long his mother has cancer for, or maybe he just wanted to go to where all his family was, what’s so wrong about that

Absolutely nothing but you said who would not want to go home and play for the home town team and I gave you 3 all having their own reasons don’t assume someone wants to go home .... btw with St. Louis his wife also hated the area big factor

Lol how is a guy who plays first line on the cup champs not an upgrade over jokingly nygard lol

He’s not an upgrade over nuge so he’s not touching top line.
Questionable if he beats out kahun for a spot next to Leon on second line. I’d lean towards kahun because of chemistry kahun and Leon developed internationally.
So now we are talking spending a first to add an expensive 3rd line lw. No disrespect to the offer but it’s just not as attractive as an option for Edmonton as you’ve suggested.

Not so. Nugent-Hopkins plays with McDavid now, I've told you this already in this thread. The most likely lines are

    Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Kassian
    Kahun - Draisaitl - Yamamoto

Here are all 5 wingers (the 4 above + Palat) and their 5v5 P/60 last year:

    Yamamoto: 3.16
    Kahun: 2.43
    Nugent-Hopkins: 2.23
    Kassian: 2.21
    Palat: 1.84

    Same 5 guys by 5v5 G/60:

    Kassian: 1.03
    Yamamoto: 1.00
    Nugent-Hopkins: 0.98
    Kahun: 0.90
    Palat: 0.72

I'm 100% sure the Oilers have no interest in paying $5.3M and a first round pick for a DOWNGRADE in the form of a 30-year-old rental winger.

It’s taking mcdonagh for the leadership and I know how good berggren is but mcdonaghs contract ends at about when detriot will start being competitive so it won’t hurt them and berggren may value is about a first so I could prolly add a second for the mcdonagh cap dump

Mcdonagh's leadership isn't worth Berggren and taking on a extra $6.75M in cap for the next 6 seasons. Berggren is one of Detroit's best prospects easily in their top 5.

You do realize players can play both sides right, palat showed that in the playoffs by switching wings with kucherov multiple times
