Trying to Move On From Letang In A Practical Way

Created by: Arom5477
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 5, 2021
Published: Jan. 5, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A lot of what GMJR keeps saying is that the way to bridge the gap between the ending of the Sid/Geno era and the next Pens era will be big target UFAs. With that said, that will be my thought process when trading Letang. I.e. try to get a high-ish pick(s) and a NHL ready prospect, but the real get is saving $7.5M in cap space for 1-2 impact players.

      Easy decline by the avs

They don’t have roster space for McCann, don’t have cap
Space for him after extending their Own guys and he’s not going to cost Timmins even if they did

      Pass

I also don't think the rebuilding ANA wants Letang. Just wrong team to target.

COL definitely says no. Think you could get more for Letang, though don't think ANA is interested.

A 34 injury prone Letang how much is he really going to bring back, Anaheim is definitely not the landing spot

B’s won’t play him. He’s not an upgrade.

They have 10 guys for 7 spots and only one does not have to clear waivers. If they are going to add a d man that forces them to put another one on waivers it will be someone worth doing it for. John Moore is better than him and they can’t find PT for him. And there are better free agents still 🤷🏻‍♂️

Your end of roster spare parts are end of roster spare parts for every other team as well.

Why would COL send a young excellent d prospect for a 3rd line guy? The answer they wouldn’t because it’s a ridiculous trade offer.

The trickiest part of trading Letang is that PIT is one of the best fits 😕 but maybe to desperate to win Buffalo or desperate to compete Ottawa* for that?

      *crazy bad RD depth also

      Both seem fits
