Imagine thinking Brent Burns is a cap dump.
In the flat cap a D man making 8 mil a season into age 40 is a dangerous thing. Plus Weber has been injury prone.

Weber is still a #1 dman, + he is getting paid 6M next 2 seasons, after 3M one season and 3 years in a row at 1M. Is contract will be easy to move IF NEEDED. Plus the cap penalty if he retires goes to NSH. Two different scenario Burns and Weber

Not really Burns last 3 years are 6m 5m and 4.5 m but his cap hit is still 8 just like Webber

Big difference, for a team wanting to reach the cap floor and not paying big bucks + getting an excellent veteran, it’s tempting. But Weber would probably just retired in that case and no money against the caphit. Win-win situation, Burns is getting paid 6-5-4.5M like you said, far from 1M

Yea I see your point looks like the contract was set up for him to retire in the last 3/4 years. I still don’t think Webber is top 2 D or elite anymore, but he is still top 4. But this trade still doesn’t make sense philly isn’t looking to get a cheap player with a huge cap hit to reach the floor look at the teams struggling financially and they would swap an expensive guy for Webber.

Trading Weber is unrealistic so I dont care about the trade, this is horrible for us. But you need to watch some Habs game before calling Weber a top4, it's a pretty big insult because he is playing great

This may be one of the most ridiculous comments i've seen in a while. give it a solid 0 chance that Weber is dealt, habs are perfectly fine paying him to be their top Dman.

36 signed for 6 more years at a cap hit of just under 8 mil, it’s been 4 seasons since he’s played more than 70 games in a season and at this point in his career he’s only going to get slower and more injury prone. not saying he won’t have a top caliber season in there somewhere I’m saying I would not depend on it and he should no longer be a #1 D man. On any given year for the next 4 years he will be 2-4D man and in the last two of his deal he will be more like a 5/6 D man.
Im not trying to demean him I’m only saying what I feel is logical. At the end of the day I don’t care about either franchise I just like playing GM
